As our Data Engineering Intern, you will...
Be fascinated by the power of data to drive decisions and create new opportunities. As our Data Engineering Intern, you’ll be at the heart of our data operations, designing, building, and managing the scalable data pipelines and platforms that provide the insights our business and clients rely on.
What you'll experience:
- Deep Expertise & Broad Exposure: While embedded within the Data Engineering department for hands-on, meaningful work, you will also gain broad exposure across the entire agency. This allows you to develop deep functional skills while building a holistic understanding of our service offerings.
- Defining Your Passion: Explore diverse work across the agency to identify your professional passions within the dynamic fields of technology and marketing.
- Core Summer Project: Through your learnings, you and your fellow interns will collaborate on a central project: creating engaging, authentic content that showcases MERGE culture, our innovative work, and our people.
What you’ll do:
- Work directly with your assigned manager to execute hands-on deliverables aligned with our core business offerings, focusing on Data Engineering
- Assist with data platform assessments, implementation, and operations
- Support data architecture, modeling, and integration efforts
- Contribute to data migrations, pipeline development, and data operations
- Apply technical skills and critical thinking to real-world client challenges
- Actively contribute to and complete the Intern Cohort Content Project
- Participate in cross-functional collaboration and learning sessions
What we’re looking for:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in a relevant field (e.g., Technology, AI, Data & Analytics or related field)
- Must be a rising junior or senior
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative attitude
- Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to take ownership of tasks
- Demonstrated interest in technology, data, and marketing
- Proficiency in data platforms like BigQuery, Snowflake, or Databricks, BI platforms like Looker or Tableau, and ETL tools like Talend or Mulesoft is a plus
- First Generation college students strongly encouraged to apply
- You must be eligible to work in the United States to be considered for this role
Internship Essentials
- Duration: 10 weeks between June 1, 2026 - August 7, 2026 - Monday - Friday
- Compensation: $20.00/hour
- Location: Chicago, IL - Hybrid 2 days/week in-office
- MERGE does not provide any form of housing reimbursement/stipend
