The Opportunity

We're adding a Solution Architect to our Workday Practice — a senior technical leadership role built for someone who combines deep Workday Financials expertise with the architectural instincts and executive presence to guide complex implementations for large public sector clients.

This is a true architect position that sits at the intersection of solution design, delivery leadership, and client confidence — and it is central to how Meridian delivers outcomes that endure.

Why Meridian — and why now

There's no shortage of Workday partners. Here's what's different about this one:

This role is built into how we win. The Solution Architect isn't a configuration resource at Meridian — it's a core part of our market differentiation. When public sector clients choose Meridian, the promise of a seasoned architect shaping their solution is part of what they're buying.

You'll lead, not just configure. Our delivery teams are experienced, mission-oriented, and accountable. You won't be buried in configuration tasks — you'll be shaping scalable designs, guiding solution direction, and ensuring that what gets built can perform and endure.

You'll have real mentorship impact. Junior and mid-level consultants on your workstreams will grow under your guidance. Meridian invests in developing the next generation of Workday talent, and architects are central to that mission.

The market is yours to shape. Public sector Workday spend is accelerating. State and local governments, K–12 districts, and federal agencies are actively expanding their Workday Financials footprints. Meridian has a 20+ year track record serving these clients. Your programs will be high-stakes, high-visibility, and genuinely complex.

You'll be rewarded like an architect, not a configurator. We recognize that great architecture drives long-term client success — and retention. This role is compensated accordingly, with a strong base and meaningful bonus tied to delivery outcomes you can actually influence.

The culture is human. We're a firm built on integrity, mission, and relationships. Our clients feel it. Our team feels it. You will too.

Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Design Leadership

  • Own end-to-end functional solution architecture across one or more Workday Financials workstreams — FDM, Core Financials, Grants, and beyond — for multiple clients simultaneously
  • Translate complex business and regulatory requirements into cohesive, scalable Workday designs that will still make sense three years from now
  • Lead architecture and design workshops, guiding clients toward supportable solutions grounded in Workday best practices — not just what they asked for
  • Anticipate cross-module dependencies and downstream impacts before they become delivery problems
  • Serve as the functional authority and escalation point when the hard calls need to be made
  • Validate that every solution is configurable, auditable, and sustainable — not just functional at go-live

Public Sector & Compliance Expertise

  • Architect solutions that address the real complexity of public sector and K–12 environments: ACFR reporting, GASB accounting rules, encumbrance accounting, and fund-based budgeting
  • Partner closely with Finance, IT, HR, Payroll, and governance stakeholders to ensure alignment, compliance, and no surprises
  • Bring genuine public sector fluency — not just Workday knowledge applied generically to government clients

Client Advisory & Executive Presence

  • Act as the primary Solution Architect and client-facing lead for your workstream — the person the CFO, CIO, and CHRO trust to tell them what they need to hear
  • Communicate solution designs, tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations in language that resonates in a steering committee, not just a design session
  • Balance client preferences with Workday-recommended patterns — knowing when to flex and when to hold the line
  • Show up to executive reviews and key decision forums as Meridian's most credible voice on the solution

Quality, Governance & Risk Management

  • Review and approve design documentation, configuration workbooks, and testing strategies — not as a checkpoint, but as an active quality owner
  • Proactively surface risks related to data, compliance, integrations, and downstream processes before they compound
  • Ensure clean, well-governed transitions to post-production support — because your accountability doesn't end at go-live

Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Lead and mentor Functional Leads and Consultants across Financials workstreams — providing architectural direction while empowering teams to execute
  • Coach junior consultants through the kind of complex problem-solving that builds careers, not just implementations
  • Promote genuine collaboration across workstreams — delivery is never done in isolation
  • Contribute reusable accelerators, templates, and IP that make the next engagement better than the last

Growth & Firm Contribution

  • Participate in pre-sales solutioning, estimates, and client presentations — your credibility wins work
  • Contribute thought leadership on public sector and K–12 Workday delivery that shapes how the market sees Meridian
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and practice growth with the same intentionality you bring to client delivery

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of Workday Financials or enterprise ERP implementation experience, with at least 5 of those years in Workday delivery — you've seen enough to know what breaks and why
  • Deep functional expertise in one or more Workday Financials domains:
    • FDM
    • Financial Accounting
    • Grants
    • Procurement
    • Financial Reporting
  • Meaningful public sector implementation experience — state and local government, K–12, or federal — not just awareness of it
  • A demonstrated track record of designing complex solutions, leading delivery teams, and presenting confidently to executives who ask hard questions
  • Active Workday Implementer Certifications — a minimum of two, with Record to Report required. Additional certifications across the following are a strong plus:
    • Contracts to Cash
    • Procure to Pay
    • Accounting Center
    • Financial Consolidations
    • Strategic Sourcing
    • Inventory
    • Business Assets
    • Banking & Settlements
    • Financial Reporting

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
