Director, Community and VIP

Responsibilities:
- Own MERIT’s talent and content programs, focusing on growing MERIT’s gifted and organic community program and paid brand VIP content to drive brand awareness and positive brand sentiment
- Develop EMV benchmarks and own ongoing program KPIs and reporting, focusing on impressions, EMV and sentiment
- Lead all negotiations with celebrity talent agencies for red carpet sponsorships, video content, brand photoshoots, and more
- Manage one direct report (and 3-5 indirect reports) focused on community gifting strategy that ladders to EMV and impressions
- Build out MUA program to develop a strategic and consistent process for activating makeup artist relationships
- Ideate and manage ongoing content series featuring cultural curators and brand-aligned creators that will appear on social, site and email
- Develop strategies for engaging with new social/content platforms, like Substack, from both a VIP and community angle
- Manage relationships with external VIP events/organizations
- Closely collaborate with Influencer and Social Content teams to ensure celebrity spokespeople and content is on brand and optimized for views
- Partner with PR on narratives, calendar, campaigns, etc.
Requirements:
- 6-7+ years of experience in community and brand marketing; specific experience creating strategies to drive EMV, impressions, and culture/brand sentiment
- At least 2-3 years in a people management role and a record of delivering results with a high performing team
- A record of successfully negotiating celebrity and influencer contracts and existing relationships with talent management teams
- Effective communication and negotiation skills, with an ability to effectively influence
- Analytical capabilities; an ability to rely on data to help inform decisions
- Innate ability to build constructive relationships internally and externally with key partners
- Passion for the beauty industry and storytelling through content
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to juggle multiple projects at once
- An ability to operate in dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Must be based in Los Angeles or New York and be able to work in-office and work a minimum of 2 days a week
MERIT is proud to offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package in addition to compensation. The annual salary for this role is $140,000 - $170,000, in addition to bonus potential, stock options, a 401(k) match, health benefits, paid time off and more.
