Merit is hiring an experienced Director of Product Marketing, responsible for leading the end-to-end product marketing strategy across skincare, fragrance, and sets, from innovation and pipeline development through launch, lifecycle management, and long-term category growth. This role partners closely with the product development, packaging, creative, brand, and retailer/DTC marketing teams, to drive commercial success of new product launches and hero product support campaigns.   

The ideal candidate brings deep skincare category and fragrance expertise and a proven ability to balance strategic vision with executional excellence in a fast-paced growth environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead product marketing strategy for the skincare and fragrance portfolios, in addition to sets, shaping the innovation pipeline in alignment with cross-functional teams
  • Identify white spaces, unmet consumer needs, and category opportunities using consumer insights, trend analysis, and competitive intelligence
  • Define clear product positioning, claims frameworks, and benefit hierarchies grounded in science, efficacy, and consumer relevance
  • Own end-to-end go-to-market strategy for all skincare launches, including positioning, pricing architecture, assortment strategy, and channel priorities
  • Develop launch narratives, hero messaging, and education frameworks across DTC, retail, and professional channels
  • Partner with brand, creative, and integrated marketing teams to ensure cohesive execution across campaigns, content, and retail touchpoints
  • Lead launch readiness across cross-functional partners, ensuring alignment on timelines, messaging, and commercial goals
  • Manage the skincare and fragrance portfolios across lifecycle stages, driving sustained growth through renovations, extensions, and hero amplification
  • Balance short-term commercial needs with long-term category strategy
  • Serve as the central product marketing lead, aligning R&D, brand, sales, education, and operations around a unified product vision
  • Translate complex scientific and technical information into clear, compelling internal and external communication
  • Partner closely with sales and retail teams to support sell-in storytelling, education tools, and field enablement

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of prior experience in a global product marketing role; 5+ years of experience in skincare and fragrance categories 
  • A strong pulse on the beauty category, trends, and the competitive landscape
  • A successful record of building and executing on a cohesive product innovation strategy that delivered measurable results
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data, synthesize and communicate actionable insights
  • A broad understanding of financial management principles to ensure innovation decisions are fiscally sound and responsible
  • Customer-centric; you understand how to translate consumer insights into tangible actions that can be tested with the consumer
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem solving skills; you have implemented comprehensive product innovation strategies and have executed on product roadmaps that align with business objectives 
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills; you have the ability to set goals, prioritize initiatives and deliverables in collaboration with integrated marketing and other stakeholders
  • Effective communication and active listening skills
  • A collaborative team player with an exceptional ability to work cross-functionally and influence across departments
