Senior Accountant
Reports to: Accounting Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Location: Shared Services Office, Irving, TX

The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team. A successful Senior Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in General Ledger Accounting and Reporting and assist the Controller and Assistant Controller in the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department.
Responsibilities
- Support month-end activities and year-end close process.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Track capex related costs and report fixed assets in subledgers.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Calculate, expand details of and report sales associate commission for monthly payroll
- Research, document, and communicate accounting conclusions.
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
- Participate in the maintenance of the company’s financial records and ensure that accounting records are maintained in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
- Provide input into the department’s goal setting process.
- Prepare financial statements.
- Assist in the development of budgets and perform budget analysis.
- Assist with audits: external, banking, insurance, sales tax, and benefits.
- Liaise with the accounting team to improve financial procedures.
- Assist with special projects and added reporting as needed.
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA preferred.
- Strong Excel skills required.
- Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- High level of written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Teamwork oriented, working with all levels and departments of the organization.
Other Skills/Abilities
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Mental stamina for problem solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.
Environmental Requirements
Will be required to work in an office environment and possibly, occasionally in the field.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard and telephone, reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
