We are looking for our next Backend Engineer based in Bangalore India, working in a hybrid remote environment and aligned with London work hours. Supported by and reporting to senior technical staff, you will be joining a friendly and growing team to disrupt the indexing space and participate in the next phase of our growth.

What will you do?

As part of the Platform Engineering team, you will:

  • Design, build, and operate large-scale services leveraging public cloud platforms to build an industry-leading platform for financial indices.
  • Develop solutions to support customer onboarding, ingest and process large amounts of data, and compute a variety of financial indices.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to build and enhance MerQube's index computation and management systems, internal and external research tools, and data dissemination systems.
  • Take ownership of complex backend development tasks and contribute to system design and implementation in a fast-paced, agile environment.

What the position requires:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3–4 years of experience building production services using Python, Go, Java, or C++.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proven ability to design, build, and operate backend services as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with public cloud environments such as AWS or GCP, or a strong aptitude to ramp up on these technologies.
  • Experience with tools and libraries such as pandas, numpy, scipy, and Flask.
  • Knowledge of database design, SQL, and data processing pipelines (e.g., Apache Airflow or similar).
  • Exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
