About the position

Mesh Payments is seeking a strategic and dynamic Director of Communications to lead our efforts in enhancing the visibility and reputation of our Unified Global Travel and Expense Management Platform.

In this leadership role, you will develop and implement external and internal communications strategies. You'll create compelling narratives that capture attention and build mindshare. Working with colleagues, external agencies, and consultants, you will ensure these narratives drive increased awareness and revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive PR, analyst relations, awards, and internal communications strategies. Define scope, target outcomes, key metrics, and allocate necessary resources.
  • Craft and articulate business strategies through curated editorial content, awards, and diverse communication channels.
  • Support our internal communications lead to keep global employees informed and engaged.
  • Ensure cohesive corporate messaging and thought leadership across all communications channels, including the website, social media, and press.
  • Identify and package compelling stories from Mesh’s employees, customers, and operations. Develop related assets such as articles, videos, and infographics.
  • Enhance the visibility of the CEO and other key leaders through speaking opportunities, in collaboration with product and field marketing teams.
  • Utilize digital tools and analytics to stay ahead of trends and develop innovative engagement approaches.
  • Partner with our PR agency to leverage media relationships and drive awareness of Mesh’s expertise, customer successes, and unique corporate culture.
  • Train and develop company spokespeople to excel in press interviews, influencer interactions, social media, and public speaking.

Required Experience and Skills

  • At least 5 years of experience in corporate communications and PR, with a proven track record in strategic communications.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of creating clear, persuasive, and relatable content without resorting to jargon.
  • Expertise in B2B SaaS is required; experience in consumer tech is a plus.
  • Demonstrated initiative in leading projects and presenting innovative ideas.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute integrated strategic communications programs encompassing PR, content marketing, social media, and data analysis.
  • Experience in crafting corporate messaging and thought leadership for disruptive technology companies.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to balance strategy and execution.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to connect the dots and leverage resources effectively.
  • A mix of in-house and agency experience is preferred; experience with Fintech companies is an advantage.
  • Ability to create engaging narratives, understand audiences, and pay exceptional attention to detail.
  • A forward-thinking team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and is comfortable with change and ambiguity.

This role is based on the East Coast, with a preference for New York, NY.

Salary: $150K/year + Equity
