As an Associate Director of Business Strategy, your role is to lead a team from conception through to delivery. You’ll inspire others and are capable of tackling complex, business-impact generating challenges with enthusiasm and drive. You’ll guide your team and others on business strategy efforts with appropriate support as needed from a Director or Principle to deliver the best possible outcomes.

Infrequent, but required, travel is possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team through complex projects, planning, conducting and interpreting business strategy activities to inform the direction of the product. Methods will include any/all of the business strategy tools, adapted for the client and context
  • Translate brand, service, operational and financial business requirements into holistic deliverables in a highly collaborative environment, often joining unusual dots and leveraging your curiosity to tell a great story.
  • Frame, challenge and translate client briefs into a project proposal, scoping projects to deliver on time and to a high standard. Demonstrate thought leadership, educate and share knowledge with others. 
  • Guide the client to the best outcome for their business, end users, and Method, thinking holistically about customer needs, business requirements, operational & organizational culture and technical possibilities.
  • Put together business cases, financial models and pricing analysis to drive the optimal balance for client’s decisions and build data-driven strategies
  • Plan and execute data gathering, hypothesis building, and assumption mapping activities to inform ROI analysis; translate analysis into strategic prioritization and recommended actions
  • Create business models, investment roadmaps, and go-to-market plans
  • Lead qualitative and quantitative research from start to finish, including learning plans, approach  and methods, interviews, tools, analysis and report creation 
  • Get involved in New Business activities to help define ways to win projects.
  • Pull together the right skills on a project team and pivot where necessary, and can brief the team effectively. 
  • Impact Method through common missions that better serve our projects, our people and the world at large.
  • Polished presentation and storytelling abilities
  • Foster a culture of curiosity on the interplay between design, product and technology that manifests in how projects are framed and executed

Qualifications:

  • Fluent in English with excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills. Ability to successfully articulate ideas and intent to your team and your client
  • Demonstrated success in effecting change and / or launching products or ventures in a startup or corporate environment, involving working across multiple stakeholder groups and joining dots to bring better alignment and understanding.
  • Experience with data, business modeling, forecasting
  • Has performed work in global context and/or has comparable experience working in a global firm/industry (i.e. worsked for Global Clients specifically in US, Japan, and/or Europe)
  • 7+ years of experience in consulting, agency, innovation, startup, project management, or a similar discipline. 
  • Effective communicator both in client presentations and meetings, able to frame complicated problems in ways that are easily understood. Effective time management skills to balance project schedules with fast-paced deadlines.
  • You contribute to statements of work, new business pursuits and project definitions, and are able to spot opportunities for account growth on projects and communicate possibilities to Director/New Business.
  • Great interpersonal skills and the ability to galvanize and inspire others. Not afraid to ask for help when needed. 
  • Able to operate in a fast moving environment and comfortable with uncertainty
  • 1+ year team management experience - you have a high level of personal awareness and appreciation of the skills of others and are an active participant in design discussions and across the Method studios.
