Senior Data Engineer

Your role is to collaborate with multidisciplinary individuals and support the project lead on data strategy and implementation projects. You will be responsible for data and systems assessment, identifying the critical data and quality gaps required for the effective decision support and contributing towards the data platform modernization roadmap. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with data scientists, data architects, business analysts, and other disciplines to understand data requirements and deliver accurate data solutions.
  • Analyze and document existing data system processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop detailed process maps that describe data flow and integration across multiple systems.
  • Create a catalog of data fields and data structures across various databases and systems.
  • Compare data fields and structures to identify inconsistencies and discrepancies
  • Contribute towards gap analysis and recommend solutions for standardizing data fields and structures.
  • Recommend data directories to organize and manage data assets effectively.
  • Propose data standards and best practices.

Qualifications:

Technical skills

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in data engineering, data analysis, or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL databases).
  • Programming skills in languages such as Python
  • Experience with data warehousing and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
  • Experience working with cloud data platforms such as Azure, AWS.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, data architecture, and data integration techniques.
  • Familiarity with data cataloging tools and techniques.
  • Understanding of data quality principles and experience with data quality tools.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) (desired)

Analytical skills 

  • Ability to analyze complex data sets and translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience in process mapping and optimization.
  • Understanding of data governance frameworks and practices.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to successfully articulate your work and its intent to your team and your client
  • A unique point of view. You are trusted to question approaches, processes, and strategy to better serve your team.

Location

  • New York city or its vicinity, you will require to travel to the client office based in New York City up to 3 days per week.

New York City Applicants (New York City Local Law 32;  Pay Transparency Law):  The starting salary range for this role to be performed in New York City is from $138k to $186k. This salary range is specific to New York City residents only, and provided as a general, good faith estimate. The amount offered may be higher or lower. Method takes many factors into making an offer, including candidate qualifications, work experience, operational needs, travel and onsite requirements, internal peer equity, prevailing wage, responsibilities, and other market and business considerations.
