Associate Director, Experience Design

As Associate Director of Experience Design, you will lead multidisciplinary design projects from experience definition through execution. Your tasks will include framing opportunities with clients, structuring and running research activities, planning and facilitating collaborative workshops driving concept explorations, prototyping the future of our client’s products and services and overseeing the creation of high fidelity design solutions. You partner closely with a client, serving as an internal champion to ensure our work meets their needs and also serving as an advisor to further their business aspirations through design. You’ll guide your team and others in communicating complex concepts in written, diagrammatic and visual formats and support product and engineering teams in bringing digital products and services to market by translating strategies into actionable outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Lead multidisciplinary teams through complex projects
- Partner closely with a client, serving as an internal champion to ensure our work meets their needs and also serving as an advisor to further their business aspirations through design.
- Plan, conduct, and interpret primary and secondary research to inform strategy, user interaction and direction of a product or service. Research methods include user and business stakeholder interviews, customer research, usability evaluations, concept validation, and user testing.
- Define and design multi channel digital solutions with different disciplines in a highly collaborative environment
- Collaborate on and influence the different stages of a digital product or service —this includes shaping project scope, driving internal and external strategy, research and deliverables.
- Plan and host collaborative workshops and work sessions with internal and external teams
- Lead teams in the creation of artifacts including archetypes, customer journeys, service blueprints, ecosystems, initial concepts, prototypes, and design documentation.
- Mentor and/or manage others in the experience design discipline
- Impact Method through common missions that better serve our projects, our people and the world at large
- Practice responsible design (accessible and inclusive)
- Foster a culture of curiosity on the interplay between design, product and technology that manifests in how projects are framed and executed
- Mentor and/or manage others in the experience design discipline
Qualifications:
- Fluent in English with excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills. Ability to successfully articulate design concepts and intent to your team and your client
- A portfolio that reflects a solid foundation in understanding the complexity and intricacies of business problems and the design process. It should follow a case study narrative articulating participation and personal role throughout each project
- Demonstrated success in defining, creating, and launching digital products and services
- 7+ years experience in service design, design research, digital strategy, visual/interaction design, or digital product design. 1+ year team management experience either in HR capacity or project team leadership
- Effective time management skills to balance project schedule with fast-paced deadlines
- Ability to collaborate with engineers, product managers, product designers etc. as it pertains to developing digital products
- A strong, empathetic leader on projects who inspires and encourages their team members to deliver the highest quality work.
Employment specifics
- You will be based in the UK and able to work without the need for a visa.
- Travel for team and client meetings is required, typically up to 15%.
