Based at our global headquarters in Houston, TX, the Staff Accountant is responsible for the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, assisting in financial data entry, reconciling financial accounts, and providing general accounting support. This position collaborates with other finance team members and contributes to the overall efficiency of the accounting and finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Staff Accountant, with existing experience in AP & AR, looking for an opportunity to develop and broaden their accounting expertise. 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable Support 

  • Processes accounts receivable invoices and payments 
  • Processes vendor invoices and payments 
  • Helps resolve any discrepancies in accounts receivable or accounts payable transactions 

 

Financial Data Entry & Maintenance 

  • Enters financial data into accounting software accurately and efficiently 
  • Maintains organized records of financial transactions and ensures data integrity 
  • Reconciles bank statements and other financial documents as needed 

 

General Accounting Support 

  • Assists with month-end and year-end closing procedures 
  • Performs general ledger reconciliations and journal entries 
  • Participates in special projects or initiatives to improve accounting processes and procedures 
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field 
  • 2 years of relevant work experience, may include internships 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Prior experience using NetSuite or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software 
  • Interested in pursuing CPA certification 

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

  • Highly numerate 
  • Proficient understanding of accounting principles and concepts 
  • High degree of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills 
  • Proficiency in office software, including Microsoft Office Suite and Excel 
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive company information 

 

Physical Demands: This position requires sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen for extended periods while working or performing other office tasks. Ability to move around the office, including occasional standing, walking, and bending to retrieve documents, attend meetings, or use office equipment. Some light lifting may be required, up to 20 lbs.
