Contract Recruiter (Field Operations)

Chicago, Illinois, United States

Who we are

The real world is the next frontier, and at Metropolis, we are creating the artificial intelligence to make it responsive. We are pioneering the Recognition Economy — a future where mundane repetition disappears and being known unlocks access, comfort, and belonging everywhere you go. From transforming parking into a seamless drive-in, drive-out experience for millions of Members to expanding our intelligence layer across retail and hospitality, we are building a world that feels instinctive and magical. The future isn’t coming; it’s here, and we need builders, innovators, and problem solvers to help us create it.

Who you are

Metropolis is seeking a Contract Recruiter (Field Operations) to manage full-lifecycle talent acquisition for our frontline, supervisory, and regional operations teams. Built for a recruiter who thrives in fast-paced, high-volume hiring environments, you will partner directly with Field Operations Managers and People Operations to source, screen, and onboard essential talent. From entry-level field attendants and site leads to field maintenance specialists and facility managers, you will drive localized recruitment strategies across dynamic target markets to keep our physical locations operating smoothly.

What you'll do

  • Own the end-to-end recruitment process for high-volume and specialized field operations roles across multi-site geographic markets
  • Deploy targeted sourcing strategies, leveraging local job boards, community workforce centers, technical trade schools, hiring fairs, and employee referral campaigns to build consistent candidate flow
  • Review high volumes of applications, conduct phone screens, and evaluate candidate reliability, practical qualifications, and alignment with operational standards
  • Coordinate with regional and on-site operations managers to calibrate requirements, manage interview schedules, and streamline candidate feedback loops
  • Maintain an active talent pipeline in the Applicant Tracking System to rapidly fill operational turnover and support new facility launches
  • Extend job offers, guide candidates through pre-employment background checks and compliance verifications, and coordinate with People Operations to ensure seamless Day 1 handoffs
  • Monitor recruitment velocity metrics, including time-to-fill, candidate pass-through rates, and source efficacy, using data to address regional hiring bottlenecks
  • Serve as the first touchpoint for Metropolis in local communities, championing our technology, operational vision, and growth opportunities

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, with a focus on high-volume, field, retail, hospitality, light industrial, or multi-site operations hiring
  • Demonstrated track record of managing 15–25+ open requisitions simultaneously while maintaining low time-to-fill metrics
  • Expertise in geo-targeted sourcing methods (e.g., Indeed, Craigslist, local hiring events, community partnerships) alongside traditional recruiting channels
  • Proficiency with modern Applicant Tracking Systems (e.g., iCIMS, Greenhouse) and recruitment databases
  • Experience leveraging AI recruiting tools to optimize candidate sourcing and accelerate high-volume hiring workflows
  • Working knowledge of multi-state employment regulations, Fair Chance hiring practices, and standard pre-employment screening workflows
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with an ability to communicate effectively with both frontline talent and regional corporate leadership
  • High adaptability and problem-solving skills suited to a rapidly growing, operationally complex environment

While not required, these are a plus:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
