The Role 

Reporting to the VP Procurement, the Sourcing Manager Logistics and Transportation is the related spend category team leader, who is responsible for the contracting, project management, vendor management and spend management and reduction for services related to inbound freight, outbound freight, external warehousing, fulfillment centers and 3PLs. The Sourcing Manager Logistics and Transportation will work with internal/external parners at the budgeting, forecasting, project, contract and transactional levels.  

The position requires an experienced sourcing background associated with indirect materials and services, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The role also requires strong reporting and presentation skills to communicate initiatives and risks status at all levels of the enterprise.      

Some line management experience would be a plus as the role might have one direct report.  

What you'll do: 

  • Manage and foster Global Freight Forwarder relationships through optimized cost and service solutions to meet Mezzetta business requirements  
  • Analyze and calculate costs of freight/3PL procurement and suggest methods to decrease expenditure. 
  • Analyze and optimize OTR/intermodal 
  • Lead and improve RFP process for freight and logistics Opex 
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking (map of Mezzetta freights against cost saving opportunities) 
  • Together with Customer Service Lead, measure 3PL operational effectiveness through development of a comprehensive set of KPIs, facilitation of Quarterly Business Reviews and implementation of continuous improvement programs 
  • Identify potential external events that could impede global material flows and develop contingency plans to reduce risks to the business. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, to design and implement end-to-end logistics network solutions in support of the growth agenda of the company.  
  • Support the larger logistics team through effective lane routing assignments and adjust as necessary due to space, availability, service level and cost, 
  • Lead ocean, air and road RFI/RFP/RFQ processes and lead the implementation of outcomes.  
  • On a ad-hoc basis, supporting the VP Procurement in the sourcing processes of other indirect services spend categories.

Who you are and what you’ll need for this position: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply chain and/or Logistics 
  • Possess knowledge associated with the professional field of sourcing and contracting. 
  • Have 3-5 years’ experience in Strategic Sourcing in the areas of transportation and logistics services   
  • Have experience in Strategic Sourcing in any other areas of indirect sourcing such as MRO, HR services, Marketing services, Supplies is a plus. 
  • Apply Strategic Sourcing associated theories, methods, principles and practices 
  • Perform associated duties that are predominantly intellectual and varied in nature, requiring creative, analytical, evaluative, interpretive and critical thinking  
  • Knowledge of ERP and Database software 
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgement, requiring only minimal supervision for day-to-day tasks      
  • Educate and mentor stakeholders in his/her area of expertise   

 

Pay Range

$120,000 - $140,000 USD
