The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance, repair, and inspection activities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of company facilities, including warehouses, offices, and surrounding areas and multiple buildings within walking distance. This position supports building infrastructure, utilities, and equipment by executing preventive maintenance schedules, troubleshooting system issues, and coordinating necessary repairs. The role requires technical expertise in multiple trades, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize work to minimize operational disruptions.
Key Responsibilities
Availability: Candidates must be able to work weekends, and overtime as required
- Perform routine inspections of warehouses, offices, and building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, etc.).
- Conduct preventative maintenance and repair work on facility infrastructure, fixtures, and equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Maintain exterior areas, including parking lots, walkways, landscaping, and loading docks.
- Repair or replace broken sprinklers, pipes, and other irrigation components as needed.
- Oversee and coordinate external contractors and vendors performing specialized maintenance or repair work.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and an organized inventory of tools, parts, and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards, building codes, and company policies.
- Respond promptly to urgent maintenance requests or equipment breakdowns to support continuous operations.
- Support company initiatives related to facility upgrades, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school training preferred.
- Proven experience in building/facility maintenance, preferably in warehouse or industrial settings.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general construction/repair.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks such as climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- HVAC certification, electrical license, or other relevant trade certification.
- OSHA safety training or equivalent.
- Forklift certification a plus.
- Basic carpentry and/or welding experience a plus.
Work Environment
- The work environment is a food manufacturing facility. Exposure to moving machinery and noise.
- Employees may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures, humidity, moisture, and liquids when working on production machines.
- Exposure to strong odors and fumes from hot peppers and other flavorful ingredients processed in the facility is likely.
- Frequent exposure to moving machinery, wet and slippery surfaces, and cleaning chemicals.
- Must be able to work in a high-demand, fast-paced production environment with strict hygiene and safety protocols.
- May require flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts based on production demands.
Pay Range
$35 - $45 USD
