About the Role
The Controller will oversee the accounting and reporting functions, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and the accuracy of financial reporting. This role is essential for maintaining the financial integrity of the company and supporting its growth. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of both STAT and GAAP accounting principles, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to excellence in financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Manage the preparation and timely submission of financial statements and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards, as well as the entire accounting function
- Ensure full compliance with statutory accounting principles and relevant regulatory requirements
- Oversee the reconciliation of accounts and the general ledger
- Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and accounting standards, updating internal accounting policies and procedures accordingly
- Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies during audits and examinations, providing necessary documentation and support
- Provide technical accounting guidance and support to the finance team, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory standards
- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial reporting

- Managing external vendors
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred
- 10+ years of experience in accounting, with a strong preference for experience within the insurance industry or similar “balance sheet” industries
- In-depth knowledge of statutory accounting principles and regulatory requirements
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity

- This role is remote, with an option to work from our headquarters in Greenwood Village, CO
Estimated Salary
$165,000-$225,000 per year
