Job Summary

The Senior ATLO Production Engineer will help shape the move into space vehicle rate production for Millennium Space Systems. This individual will collaborate with Programs, Engineering, Manufacturing, Facilities, and Security to help the company meet delivery targets and improve company production competitiveness. The Senior ATLO Production Engineer will also be responsible for helping improve efficiency of current assembly and test processes, helping stand up production lines for existing and new programs, and ensuring continuous process improvement.

The ideal candidate is highly collaborative and a proactive problem-solver as well as a subject matter expert in medium-rate production, complex mechanical integration, complex hardware-software integration, complex test system, and production automation.

Responsibilities

  • Drive improvements to increase production throughput, reduce space vehicle build hours and quality issues, and remove waste from complex processes.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing , engineers, company leadership and subject matter experts to solve large-scale production challenges.
  • Communicate with management and stakeholders to develop production and design standards.
  • Anticipate and identify challenges within production, determine root causes, and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Identify, plan, and execute equipment, machine, facility, and layout upgrades to meet production demand. 
  • Develop and refine floor layouts, capacity models, and product flow analysis to ensure multiple vehicle programs and vehicle classes across multiple portfolios and multiple classifications. 
  • Utilize statistical and analytical tools to monitor production metrics and drive continuous improvement initiatives. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering or related field
• 5-7 years experience in manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, test engineering materials and process engineering, or similar field in Aerospace, Automotive, or Commercial industries.
• Bring a level of subject matter expertise to one of the following areas: medium-rate production (10-100 complex products per year), complex mechanical integration, complex hardware-software integration, complex test system, production automation.
• This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in space systems
• 10+ years' experience in manufacturing and production at scale
• Knowledge of satellite manufacturing engineering principles and concept
• Experience with lean, six sigma, and related production principles
• Proficient in identifying system enhancement opportunities, understanding end user requirements, and the ability to translate requirements needs into design requirements.
• Experience as an industrial, operations, quality, process, or manufacturing engineer in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with CAD software, and discrete event modeling tools
• Proficiency with statistics, data analysis, cost/benefit analysis, and business intelligence and data visualization (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau)
• High level of proficiency in MRP/ERP, Jira, MS Project, manufacturing execution systems, configuration management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to make presentations to engineering, team members, internal customers and management.
• Leadership and team-building skills
• Experience working with a union represented work force
• Ability to travel for launch site integration
• Active TS/SCI Clearance

Summary Pay-Range
Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only of what is reasonably expected to be paid for the position. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

  • Level 4: $116,450 - $171,250      
  • Level 5: $141,950 - $208,750
