Job Summary
The Guidance, Navigation, and Controls (GNC) Engineer is the Responsible Engineering Authority (REA) for delivery of the GNC subsystem for a program and/or constellation. This includes subsystem/system level analysis to ensure requirements compliance, sensor and actuator selection, and Flight Control Software (FCSW) development and validation. Engineers in the GNC group are integral throughout the entire program lifecycle, providing mission and system design inputs, critical analysis products, software/algorithm development, support to satellite integration and test (I&T), and on-console support for on-orbit operations.
As a GNC REA at the Lead/Senior level, you will be the leader for the GNC subsystem for a given program/constellation. In addition to technical execution, it is critically important that engineers in this position are capable of management of a complex project, ensuring that high-quality work products are delivered on-time. This requires working familiarity with project management techniques, as well as an ability to identify, track, and mitigate subsystem risks in order to meet program execution objectives.

Responsibilities
- Deliver the GNC subsystem (hardware, software, and analysis) for a satellite program
- Perform GNC subsystem design, analysis, software development, and component selection to meet program requirements
- Manage the development of GNC products within the constraints of program cost and schedule
- Report technical execution progress to program and company leadership, and track/mitigate risk
- Interface with other satellite subsystems as well as systems engineering and program management to ensure system-level performance
- Technical leadership of a team of GNC engineers in support of a program, including decomposition and delegation of tasks
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline and 5+ years of industry experience
- Strong GNC fundamentals and spacecraft system level knowledge
- Ability to perform complex GNC system analyses of kinematics, dynamics, and control systems using existing and/or self-developed tools
- Ability to decompose large/complex/nebulous tasks into clearly defined subsets of work that can be done personally or delegated to other members of the team
- Ability to lead a small team of GNC engineers and collaborate with other subsystem engineers and program leadership
- Ability to support activities (e.g. integration and test, mission operations) during off-nominal hours when required

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years industry experience with spacecraft GNC system design
- Satellite I&T and on-orbit operations experience
- Strong fundamentals of project management, including monitoring cost and schedule performance
- Ability to set direction of program work and create processes and standards to support the group
- Advanced understanding of classical and modern control theory, system-level trade studies, architecture development, and systems integration & analysis
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- History of working independently to root cause discrepancies during spacecraft integration and test
Summary Pay-Range
Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only of what is reasonably expected to be paid for the position. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
- Level 3: $108,800 - $160,000
- Level 4: $135,150 - $198,750
