POSITION SUMMARY
Ensure the safety of patrons at the Minitab aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the aquatics facility; act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.
- Provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Present a professional appearance and attitude at all times; maintain a high standard of customer service.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE
- At least current high school student with 6 months to 1 year experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified is preferred.
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard certification, or lifeguard certification by a recognized source of training.
- Red Cross CPR/AED certification
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.
- Knowledge of CPR, AED, and emergency medical procedures.
- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
- Display sensitivity and tact when dealing with people at all physical levels.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to bend, stoop, lift, and transport objects weighing 20 pounds.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language.
- Must have working papers if under the age of 18.
