Position Overview

As a Simulation Consultant at Minitab, you will support customers throughout the Customer Engagement Lifecycle to help ensure the successful implementation, adoption, and use of Minitab solutions. 

You will collaborate across teams to deliver high-quality training, coaching, consulting, and timely customer support while maintaining consistent project execution and documentation. In this role, you will also identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance customer value, strengthen customer relationships, and support opportunities for additional services and growth. 

What You'll Do 

Simulation Consulting & Technical Delivery 

  • Work with customers to understand operational challenges, business objectives, processes, data requirements, and measures of success. 
  • Support the design, development, verification, and validation of  discrete-event simulation models that accurately represent customer processes and systems. 
  • Use Simul8 to evaluate scenarios, identify bottlenecks, assess resource requirements, quantify operational risk, and support evidence-based decision-making. 
  • Analyze model outputs and translate simulation results into clear business insights and actionable recommendations for customers 
  • Support the facilitation of  model discovery sessions, customer workshops, model reviews, training sessions, and project presentations. 
  • Advise customers on simulation modelling methodology, model design, experimentation, and effective use of Simul8. 
  • Review and troubleshoot customer simulation models and provide advanced modelling guidance where required. 
  • Maintain appropriate documentation covering model assumptions, logic, data inputs, validation, experiments, results, and recommendations. 
  • Continually develop expertise in discrete-event simulation, Simul8, analytics, and relevant customer industries. 

Customer Lifecycle & Project Delivery 

  • Contribute to the Customer Engagement Lifecycle (CEL), with service delivery that is executed to the highest standard. 
  • Support the deployment of products and services, ensuring aligned execution, governance, and process adherence. 
  • Maintain procedural compliance, document activities accurately, and complete deliverables on time and within budget. 
  • Track work hours by activity type in appropriate systems to support accurate reporting and resource planning. 
  • Work with leadership to enhance customer experience and maximize ROI, supporting measurable value realization. 
  • Apply standardized project delivery frameworks for the Customer Success team to promote consistency in service execution. 
  • Support effective adoption and utilization of Minitab solutions and collaborate with internal technical teams to continually improve customer experience when using Simul8 software. 

Customer Support & Success Operations 

  • Provide assistance to the technical support team to resolve advanced modelling queries. 
  • Identify departmental roadblocks and contribute towards process improvements to enhance the overall effectiveness of the Customer Success organization. 
  • Capture and maintain detailed customer interaction records, including suggestions for improvements or modifications, ensuring accurate documentation for future reference and operational insights. 
  • Assist with the enablement and onboarding of new team members, supporting consistent knowledge transfer and skill development across the team. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Organizational Contributions 

  • Contribute to strategic initiatives by participating in working groups, volunteering for tasks, and presenting at company meetings to support broader organizational priorities. 
  • Liaise with Sales and Marketing to provide subject-matter expertise and maintain accurate, aligned communication throughout the customer journey. 
  • Participate in cross-functional and process team meetings to support coordinated decision-making and ensure shared understanding across departments. 
  • Engage in projects initiated by department leadership to enhance departmental operations and support continuous improvement. 

What We're Looking For 

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a closely related discipline. Equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. 
  • 1+ years of professional or academic experience developing discrete-event simulation models to analyze business processes, operational systems, or complex workflows. 
  • Experience using discrete-event simulation software. Experience with Simul8 is preferred; experience with comparable platforms such as Arena, AnyLogic, Simio, FlexSim, or similar simulation tools will also be considered. 
  • Understanding of simulation modelling principles, including model conceptualization, data analysis, verification and validation, experimentation, scenario analysis, and interpretation of simulation results. 
  • Experience translating business or operational problems into analytical or simulation-based solutions. 
  • Experience working directly with customers or internal stakeholders to gather requirements, understand business challenges, and communicate technical findings and recommendations. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with processes, data, and systems. 
  • Experience with at least one programming or analytical language such as Python, R, SAS, Java, or C#. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Ability to travel occasionally to customer or partner sites, industry events, and tradeshows, approximately 25% of the time. 
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English. 
  • Spanish-language proficiency is preferred, particularly for supporting Spanish-speaking customers and stakeholders.

This role can be based onsite in State College, PA, or remotely within Pennsylvania.
