Primary responsibilities

  • Assist Fixed Income Portfolio Manager with managing exposures, including tracking, hedging, and rebalancing portfolio interest rate and inflation risk
  • Trade fixed income trading strategies as efficiently as possible and practical, mostly centered around bond, swap, futures, options, and repo markets. Ensure optimal execution.
  • Work closely with portfolio managers and quantitative researchers to propose optimizations that would make strategies more efficient, and provide market insights that may improve strategies
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with trading counterparties to improve execution terms and gather market insights
  • Identify ways to continuously improve (automation, simplification) trading and portfolio management systems and associated processes and drive implementation of improvements when appropriate
  • Manage both trading-related and research process projects and tasks; analyze, propose, and implement improvements; these may include
    • Optimizing the process of sourcing and maintaining new and existing data
    • Continuously monitoring critical data to identify and address potential issues
    • Streamlining and automating existing reports and trading processes
  •  To the extent possible and necessary, support other investment team efforts including
    • Researching new trading strategies
    • Trade execution in other markets
    • Cross-functional projects/efforts 

 

Desired background 

  • 2-5 years trading fixed income markets (e.g., US Treasuries, Gilts, Bunds, repos, swaps, futures, options)
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with strong academic performance
  • Deep understanding of fixed income instruments (e.g., bonds, swaps, futures, repos), market dynamics (dealer positioning, seasonality), trading, and exposure management
  • Strong communication/interpersonal skills to build and maintain internal/external relationships and negotiate favorable trade terms for MIO
  • Strong attention to detail, operational accuracy and a dedication to producing error-free work
  • Strong quantitative skills, ability to perform complex data analytics and develop and manage repeatable automatable analytical processes that can inform our exposure management and trading
  • Proficiency in Excel modeling; some Python experience a plus   
  • Ability to learn and navigate new technologies quickly (e.g., Bloomberg, trading and portfolio management systems) 
  • Ability to assess, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks under pressure
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in simple terms and liaise between various groups 
  • Values-driven, high sense of personal accountability

Certain US states require MIO Partners, Inc. to include a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to an individual’s assigned office location, experience, and expertise. Certain roles are also eligible for bonuses, subject to MIO’s discretion and based on factors such as individual and/or organizational performance. Additionally, MIO offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental and vision coverage, telemedicine services, life, accident and disability insurance, parental leave and family planning benefits, caregiving resources, a generous retirement program, financial guidance, and paid time off.

Base salary range

$170,000 - $170,000 USD
