As an individual contributor, in this Sales Director role, you will drive the growth of our emerging government business unit. You will work with a talented cross-organizational group to build a new verticalized business for MiQ.
The ideal candidate is comfortable operating in ambiguity and has demonstrated a strategic mindset with critical thought and business problem-solving experience. Business development and programmatic or paid digital marketing experience is required. Past client work with government entities directly or indirectly is preferred.
Deliver against financial and strategic objectives:
- Formulate a comprehensive sales plan and strategic approach for engaging Federal & State government advertising partners (e.g. ad agencies, communications firms, or consulting firms who plan and buy paid advertising on behalf of government agencies).
- Build and foster relationships with ad agencies, consultancies, IT firms as well as set aside businesses winning both federal & state government contracts to cultivate new prospective clients while growing current business and maintaining a robust pipeline.
- Drive business development endeavors, encompassing client pursuits, meticulous RFP review and response, precise proposal delivery, preparation and delivery of finalist presentations, along with contract negotiations.
- Become a subject matter expert on the government paid media space, providing consultative services to clients by identifying challenges and providing MiQ solutions. Look for one-to-many opportunities such as industry thought-leadership events to coordinate an MIQ presence.
- Maximize the use of Marketing, PR events and entertainment to increase awareness of MiQ in the marketplace
- Cultivate a robust network by engaging potential clients, search consultants, and active participation in professional associations and industry networking events
Internal Collaboration
- Partner with Sales Managing Director and RVP on Go to Market Strategy for Government business unit.
- Collaborate with Product, Product Marketing, and Solutions Engineering to create packages tailored to the needs and objectives of government agencies.
- Work with the Analytics team in India to support our goal to discover insights that drive business outcomes.
- Team up with internal stakeholders, building relationships and working across differences to find solutions
Skills, Experience, and Requirements
- Strong professional written and verbal communication skills, applicable to internal and external stakeholders, including ability to flex communication style to persuade and influence positive outcomes
- Ability to cultivate a robust network by engaging potential clients and external consultants as well as active participation in professional associations and industry networking events
- Capacity to manage various deadlines and priorities across existing and new business, hitting tight deadlines s without over-compromising on quality
- High degree self-motivation and drive with competence to act as an independent business owner
- Strategic thinking skills, looking beyond RFPs to propose ideas that meet business needs/challenges
- Eagerness to work in a startup team environment that is rapidly changing
- Works well in a team and believes in “winning together”
- 4 + years of experience in digital, programmatic display preferred.
- Agency experience as customer, partner or employee – client-facing management agency experience is a bonus
- Experience creating and managing new business units, including a team (up to 3+ and a book of business.
