POSTION SUMMARY 

Director, Sales Training and Effectiveness will lead and direct the commercial training function to support the development of training of customer facing teams and promoted products. Oversees Commercial Communication function including ensuring that communication, reporting and marketing information are organized to minimize field team disruption and maximize retention to the customer facing organization and internal support groups. Focus is on ensuring the current and future training and development needs of the customer facing commercial teams are met. Responsible for the planning and execution of new hire training, major meeting training sessions and execution of ongoing key sales and marketing objectives.  They will lead, coordinate and deploy a remote (not direct report) Field Trainer Team of Sales Professionals to execute and pull-through training initiatives.  They will work cross functionally with key internal stakeholders such as Commercial Operations, Sales, Marketing, Market Access, HR Professional Development& International teams as well as external vendor partners to ensure training alignment with corporate objectives.

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and direct Training to continually assess, enhance, update and measure effectiveness of all training programs and curriculums, to include pharma market knowledge, disease state expertise, product knowledge, new hire training, advanced training, selling skills, account planning coaching models and professional development programs.
  • Strategic planning, development, execution, and facilitation of comprehensive commercial training curricula focused on advanced skill sets and capabilities for use during training classes, POAs, launches, and other national/ regional meetings.
  • Schedules, plans and directs all commercial new hire training classes and oversees all agendas to ensure short- and long-term objectives of the sales and marketing strategies are met.
  • Ensure training resources (i.e., materials, workshops, modules) meet all regulatory, legal and compliance requirements for assigned individual projects and initiatives.
  • Coordination across the Mirum cross functional teams, ensuring all training materials meet the goals and objectives of the sales and marketing teams.
  • Become a trusted thought partner with Sales, Market Access, Marketing, and related teams to define training offerings that scale and differentiate while meeting broad set of customer requirements.
  • Partners with Sales, Marketing and Market Access to roll out and train on new customer facing materials.
  • Works cross functionally to identify, develop and implement best practices focused on customer facing execution of the Brand Plan.
  • Embrace entrepreneurial spirit for an emerging biopharmaceutical company - the ability to foster relationships and develop innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Responsible for synchronizing with global teams in other regions to coordinate with respect to product and disease training requirements, scheduling and ensuring a global training standard.
  • Partner with Sales Leadership to develop strategic, tactical and communication plans for field execution.
  • Work with the Commercial Sales Ops and Analytics Teams to develop and ensure utilization of business analytics to identify trends, challenges, and business opportunities within customer facing Organization.
  • Partners with other members of the commercial org, as needed, on other training initiatives (ie Professional Development).

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • BA/BS degree required.
  • 7+ years of experience within the pharma/biotech market.
  • 5+ years of experience in organizational training and development.
  • 5+ years of experience in sales.
  • 2+ years of direct management experience, home office, field or other.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in Pharmaceutical/Biotech Sales.
  • Experience in niche or rare disease markets.
  • Previous launch experience desired.
  • Small biotech experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and experience in building different types of training to include decks,workshops, static resources, and more.
  • Strong proficiency in designing and executing virtual training.
  • Skilled at prioritizing and managing multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully influence, collaborate and interact effectively within team structure and multiple key stakeholders across organization to align on objectives and provide consistent training direction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Solid professional judgment and ability to work with confidential information is required.
  • Ability to contribute and work successfully in a team environment.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and maintain operational quality.
  • Effectively complete tasks, efficiently and accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Strong initiative and ability to multi-task.
  • Proven track record of working cross-functionally and with vendor partners.
