Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis
Mission Lane is combining the power of data, technology, and exceptional service to pave a clear way forward for millions of people on the path to financial success. By attracting top talent and leveraging cutting-edge technology, we’re enabling people to unlock real financial progress. Sound like a mission you can get behind?
We’re looking for a rigorous, proactive, and collaborative financial leader to join our Finance Team as a Senior Manager, FP&A.
The impact you’ll make:
You’ll drive forward our mission of empowering people to unlock financial progress by leading the quarterly financial forecast process end-to-end, owning the operating budget cycle, and leading the monthly ACL reserve calculation — all while serving as primary financial partner to senior leaders across Credit, Growth, and Operations.
You will translate complex portfolio data into actionable insights that guide executive-level investment decisions, ensuring we remain financially resilient as we expand our reach to underserved consumers. This role offers you the chance to help scale the financial infrastructure of a maturing fintech while directly influencing the strategy behind our next chapter of expansion.
As Senior Manager, FP&A you will:
- Lead the annual operating budget process by partnering with business leaders to align financial targets with our corporate strategy
- Develop quarterly rolling financial forecasts to address market volatility and shifts in business strategy
- Lead budget and forecasting conversations with senior leadership
- Manage complex, driver-based financial models to forecast business performance under various scenarios
- Conduct deep-dive variance analyses to identify root causes of over or underperformance and present insights to business leaders
- Oversee the development of monthly financial review packages that highlight key performance indicators for the CFO and Board, turning data into clear narratives
- Leverage EPM software like Workday Adaptive to automate repetitive processes and enhance data integrity
- Partner with technical and non-finance groups to help them understand the financial implications of operational decisions
- Provide ROI and payback analysis on new business initiatives to ensure we are investing in the right areas for our customers
- Serve as a mentor and coach to junior analysts, fostering their professional development as the team grows
You’ll thrive in this role if:
- You've built driver-based financial models from scratch and you're still energized by getting into them, even after years of experience.
- You can join a virtual meeting with a senior leader you've never met in person and leave having shaped how they think about their budget.
- You're genuinely curious about what AI can do for financial modeling and you've started exploring what's possible.
- You've coached or mentored analysts and you're ready to grow into that more formally as the team expands.
- You do your best work when the path isn't fully defined yet.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field
- 5+ years of experience in financial analysis and modeling within the financial services or fintech industry
- Proven track record of building rigorous analytics or financial infrastructure from the ground up
- Experience modeling GAAP financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow)
- Ability to use data as an investigative tool to analyze performance variances and drive efficiencies
- Strong project management skills with experience executing complex financial projects in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build cross-functional relationships and influence outcomes effectively
- Ability to travel for high-impact in-person collaboration a few times a year (typically 4–6 trips annually)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the credit card or financial services industry
- At least 3 years of experience managing an FP&A function
- Experience with direct or indirect people management and coaching
- Proficiency with EPM tools (Workday Adaptive, OneStream, etc.) and data tools like SQL or Python for automation
- A strong interest in leveraging AI to modernize traditional financial modeling

About Mission Lane:
Founded in December 2018, Mission Lane is a purpose-driven fintech company based in the U.S., with headquarters in Richmond, Virginia.
It all started with a realization: nearly fifty percent of the adult population in the U.S. doesn’t have access to a clear line of credit. Most traditional credit card companies either overlook or overcharge this group because they have less-than-perfect credit scores or no scores at all. We decided this just wouldn’t do.
In partnership with our sponsor banks, we offer credit cards under the Mission Lane brand name, with better, clearer terms, and a more refined customer experience than the alternatives available to people working hard to improve their credit. To date, over four million consumers have chosen Mission Lane, earning high customer ratings on Credit Karma for its market segment and industry leading Net Promoter scores.
Mission Lane has cumulatively raised over $600 million of equity from leading investors, including Invus Opportunities, QED Investors, LL Funds, funds affiliated with Oaktree Capital Management, and other leading investors.
Our commitment to a workplace built on respect and dignity is guided by our core value of Unity. We believe that everyone plays a vital role in our shared purpose, and we actively cultivate an environment where all individuals have the opportunity to do their best work. By fostering a culture of empathy and collaboration, we create a strong sense of belonging and support for every team member.
Mission Lane is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, or gender identity), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, or any other protected status.
Mission Lane provides reasonable accommodations to applicants who need them for medical or religious reasons, as required by law. Applicants can initiate an accommodation request by contacting peopleexperience@missionlane.com.

Our cardholders trust us with their financial well-being, and this trust starts with the integrity of the people on our team. We're looking for team members who share our dedication to transparency and truth. Please verify that the information in your application is accurate and complete.
Providing any information to Mission Lane that is not completely truthful at any point during the application or hiring process may result in removal from the hiring process, disqualification from future opportunities, withdrawal of an offer or other sanctions for candidates and, in addition for employees, disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
