Mitratech is seeking an experienced and highly technical e-learning developer to accelerate the creation of our award-winning Articulate Storyline training products. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys going beyond standard authoring-tool functionality—building custom learning interactions, extending Storyline outputs with JavaScript, and solving complex technical challenges related to LMS delivery and learner experience.
Reporting to the Learning Products Operations Manager, the Developer, Instructional Products will lead course customization, development, troubleshooting, and publishing efforts across a growing portfolio of engaging, interactive compliance and professional training courses. The Developer will partner closely with instructional designers, product leadership, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality learning experiences at scale.
This is a fully remote position, with a strong preference for candidates based in Mexico or elsewhere in Latin America who possess near-native fluency in U.S. English.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Fulfill client-specific customizations of existing Articulate Storyline courses, ensuring high quality and consistency across deliverables.
- Build world-class interactive Storyline courses in close collaboration with instructional designers, subject-matter experts, and product leadership, ensuring on-time delivery and adherence to design specifications.
- Develop and implement advanced course functionality using custom JavaScript, HTML, and CSS enhancements to extend Storyline’s native capabilities.
- Customize Storyline player behavior, navigation, accessibility features, and interaction logic through published-output modifications when needed.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to Storyline output, including LMS/LRS interoperability (SCORM 1.2/2004, xAPI, cmi5), browser console debugging, and cross-device compatibility.
- Support localization workflows by importing translated text, audio, and video assets, and conducting thorough QA passes to ensure language accuracy, interactivity, and visual consistency.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by accelerating build and publishing workflows, refining development standards, and documenting best practices for scalable production.
- Assist in onboarding and mentoring contract developers as workload scales, supporting agile development practices and sprint commitments.
Requirements and Skills
- 3+ years of hands-on development experience with Articulate Storyline, including advanced triggers, variables, and complex interaction logic.
- Demonstrated expertise packaging, publishing, and troubleshooting SCORM 1.2/2004, xAPI, and
- cmi5 content in major LMS platforms.
- Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript (ES6+) and front-end web technologies (HTML5, CSS, JSON), with experience enhancing Storyline courses through scripting and output customization.
- Experience debugging Storyline-generated content using browser developer tools (e.g., Chrome DevTools), including performance, tracking, and compatibility testing.
- Strong understanding of usability, visual consistency, and accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.1 AA compliance.
- High level of written and spoken U.S. English fluency; Spanish, Portuguese, or French is a plus.
- Ability to work autonomously from a remote location and overlap at least four hours with U.S. Pacific Time.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and time-management skills in a fast-paced production environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience with version control systems (Git) and project-management tools (Asana, Jira, etc.).
- Familiarity with SCORM Cloud, Learning Locker, or other testing and LRS platforms.
- Experience creating reusable templates, interaction libraries, or scalable development frameworks for e-learning teams.
- Knowledge of advanced xAPI tracking strategies, custom reporting workflows, or learning-data integrations.
- Background in multimedia optimization, animation, or UI development for interactive learning experiences.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in instructional technology, computer science, multimedia development, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
