Job Overview 

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Linux & Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Administrator to support a production application hosted on OCI. The role focuses on Oracle Linux administration, OCI networking and security, Terraform-based automation, and operational support for SFTP and mail services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Administer and support Oracle Linux systems (patching, tuning, troubleshooting)
  • Manage OCI resources: compute, VCNs, subnets, routing, load balancers
  • Configure and maintain OCI security (IAM, NSGs, security lists, compartments)
  • Design and troubleshoot OCI networking and connectivity issues
  • Provision and manage infrastructure using Terraform (IaC)
  • Support SFTP and mail services (secure access, monitoring, troubleshooting)
  • Perform system monitoring, backup coordination, and DR support
  • Participate in production support, incidents, and on-call rotations
  • Maintain operational documentation and runbooks

Requirements & Skills:

  • 7+ years professional experience administering Linux in production (preferably Oracle Linux or closely related RHEL).
  • Strong Hands-on experience with OCI administration (compute, networking, IAM, security)
  • Experience supporting Oracle WebLogic Server
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Database environments
  • IaC & Automation: Deep proficiency with Terraform (modules, workspaces, remote state, testing) and Ansible (roles, collections, idempotency, vault).
  • Systems Expertise:
    • Kernel, systemd, SELinux/AppArmor, LVM/filesystems (xfs/ext4/btrfs), iSCSI/NFS, SSH/hardening.
    • Package and patch management (yum/dnf, repo mirrors, Ksplice), vulnerability management, and baseline hardening (CIS/STIG).
  • Solid understanding of Networking Fundamentals: TCP/IP, routing, DNS, DHCP, load balancing, proxies, firewalls/security groups, PKI/certificates (TLS).
  • Scripting: Proficiency in Bash
  • Experience with SFTP and SMTP/mail services
  • Deployment Experience: Comfortable with both modern (immutable, pipelines, containers) and older practices (in‑place upgrades, change windows, maintenance runbooks).
  • Troubleshooting: Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex incidents across OS, network, and platform layers.
  • Documentation & Communication: Clear written/verbal communication; ability to author design docs, runbooks, and RFCs.

Nice to Have (Preferred)

  • Certifications: Oracle Linux, OCI Architect Professional/Associate, RHCSA/RHCE (or equivalents), Terraform Associate, Ansible Automation.
  • Tooling: Packer, GitHub Actions/GitLab CI/Azure DevOps/Jenkins, HashiCorp Vault, OCI Bastion/Cloud Guard, Security Zones.
  • Containers & Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, admission controls, image signing, and runtime policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OCI certifications
  • Experience with monitoring tools and CI/CD pipelines
  • High availability and disaster recovery experience

Soft Skills

  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work in production-critical environments
  • Good communication and documentation skills

 

Compensation:

Mitratech remains committed to equitable and transparent pay practices. Final base salary offered may vary from the range listed and will be determined after carefully considering multiple factors during the hiring process, including location, relevant experience and education, required competencies and skill proficiency level, and review of internal equity. We encourage candidates to apply even if they may not meet all the listed requirements.

This role can be performed 100% remotely within the U.S. Anticipated base salary: $120,000 - $125,000 USD Annually 

Total compensation includes US employee benefits and annual bonus eligibility.
