Position Overview

The HR Advisor IV serves as a senior-level Human Resources subject matter expert, providing HR best practice guidance and compliance support to small and medium-sized businesses throughout the United States.

In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor, helping clients navigate complex employee relations, compliance, and workplace issues through clear, practical, and timely guidance. You will also contribute to the development of HR resources, mentor team members, support escalated client situations, and lead initiatives that improve service delivery and operational effectiveness.

This position requires extensive HR expertise, strong business acumen, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to translate complex regulations into actionable recommendations for clients.

Location: Fully Remote (United States)
Travel Requirement: Less than 10%

 

Key Responsibilities

Client Advisory & Compliance Support

  • Provide HR compliance and best-practice guidance to U.S.-based small and medium-sized businesses.
  • Consult with clients via phone and written communication to address a broad range of HR-related questions and concerns.
  • Research federal, state, and local employment regulations to ensure accurate and practical guidance.
  • Deliver timely, professional, and easy-to-understand recommendations that support client decision-making.
  • Manage client inquiries while consistently meeting established service level expectations.

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Serve as a senior HR resource for both clients and internal team members.
  • Support knowledge-sharing initiatives and provide formal or informal mentoring to colleagues.
  • Assist leadership in identifying knowledge gaps and developing team expertise in specialized HR topics.
  • Contribute to the creation and enhancement of compliance resources, articles, guides, webinars, and educational content.

Leadership & Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, processes, and service delivery models.
  • Lead departmental projects, programs, and cross-functional initiatives as needed.
  • Proactively recognize and manage client escalations while maintaining positive customer relationships.
  • Ensure alignment with service scope, established workflows, and operational standards.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive company objectives and enhance the overall customer experience.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive Human Resources experience in one or more of the following environments:

    • In-house HR Generalist or HR Business Partner roles supporting multiple states; and/or
    • External HR advisory, consulting, PEO, ASO, or similar client-facing HR environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. employment laws and HR compliance, including:

    • Wage and Hour
    • Leave Administration
    • Hiring and Recruiting
    • Employee Relations
    • Terminations
    • Anti-Discrimination and Workplace Laws
  • Active HRCI or SHRM certification required.
  • Strong consultative and customer-facing communication skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex HR and compliance topics into practical business guidance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities with the capability to manage competing priorities.
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Slack, and web-based applications.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot basic technology and software issues.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Mineral Advisor.
  • Previous experience delivering HR training, presentations, or speaking engagements.
  • Experience as an HR Manager, Senior HR Manager, HR Director, or equivalent leadership role.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits and employment-related healthcare legislation.
  • Experience with:

    • Leave Administration
    • Employee Relations
    • Performance Management
    • Workplace Investigations
  • SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification.
  • Experience within consulting, PEO, ASO, or third-party HR service delivery environments.
