Job Summary: 

MixMode is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our team in our Santa Barbara office. This person will manage all accounting procedures to ensure MixMode’s overall financial health. The ideal candidate has a strong background in accounting, excellent attention to detail, and deep knowledge of regional laws/regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
  • Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
  • Maintains the general ledger.
  • Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
  • Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
  • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections.
  • Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
  • Manages the purchasing and invoicing system.
  • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Five plus (5+) years of accounting experience
  • Prior experience with internal and external audits
  • Knowledge and understanding of GAAP accounting principles
  • Working knowledge of payroll regulations and accounting standards
  • Knowledge of Quickbooks Online accounting software, bill.com, Expensify
  • Advanced Excel skills and PivotTable 
  • Understanding and ability to interpret financial statements
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and high accuracy level
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

 

We are open to hiring great talent who may have qualifications above or below those specifically listed in this job description. Pursuant to California law, we must display the pay range for this job. Since we are willing to hire within a broad spectrum of qualifications, we also reflect a broad pay range.  The base annual salary that we are targeting for this position is $105,000 - $115,000 though we can adjust based on individual qualifications. Individual salary is determined by qualifications, role, level, and location.
