About the Team
AI has made it possible to build almost anything. The constraint on great software is no longer engineering capacity, it's judgment about what's actually worth building. Product Managers at Mixpanel build products for customers that help them answer that question, by digging deep into customer problems to answer it themselves.
Mixpanel’s Product Managers operate with high ownership and trust. As a team, we focus on helping every builder - not just the ones with a statistics background - get real answers out of messy product data, and make the judgment calls that separate delightful products from bloated ones.
We're also our own best customer. The team uses Mixpanel every day to build Mixpanel: testing our own product intuitions against our own data, catching what works and what doesn't before our users ever see it.
About the Role
Product Managers build valuable products for customers by focusing our engineering and design teams on the problems that matter most. Check out a video demo of our product in action or signup and explore one of our demo datasets.
Responsibilities
- Use insight from customer conversations and Mixpanel's own product data to shape strategy and direction for your product area
- Align engineering and design teams on the right problems with clear, written communication
- Work closely with engineering and design to experiment with and ship new capabilities
- Tell a clear story about what you've shipped - to internal and external audiences - that leads with the customer problem, articulates why it matters, and uses customer stories to make the value tangible
- Prioritize ruthlessly across a long list of possible bets, balancing customer impact, business value, and team capacity
- Define and track the metrics that tell you whether what you shipped actually worked, and course-correct when it didn't
- Align engineering, design, sales, marketing, and support around a shared roadmap and set of priorities
- Stay close to the market and competitive landscape to help inform where Mixpanel should invest next
- Help shape the product function at Mixpanel: what it's responsible for, how it interfaces with other teams and how it'll develop over time
We're Looking For Someone Who Has
- 3-5 years of hands-on product management experience
- Experience doing user research and working with customers to test product hypotheses
- An ability to synthesize quantitative and qualitative signals to drive clarity on what to build
- A track record of developing, articulating, and executing on product strategies
- Experience using AI tools in product management workflows (e.g., competitive research, prototyping)
Bonus Points For
- Experience using Mixpanel as an end customer
- Experience writing production-grade software
- Experience designing products using tools like Figma, Sketch, or Abstract
Compensation
The amount listed below is the total target cash compensation (TTCC) and includes base compensation and variable compensation in the form of either a company bonus or commissions. Variable compensation type is determined by your role and level. In addition to the cash compensation provided, this position is also eligible for equity consideration and other benefits including medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level and are benchmarked to the SF Bay Area Technology data cut released by Radford, a global compensation database. The range displayed represents the minimum and maximum TTCC for new hire salaries for the position across all of our US locations. To stay on top of market conditions, we refresh our salary ranges twice a year so these ranges may change in the future. Within the range, individual pay is determined by experience, job-related skills, qualifications, and other factors. If you have questions about the specific range, your recruiter can share this information.

$175,000 - $210,000 USD
