About the Role

Security at Mixpanel is not a "check-the-box" exercise. Our growing team is dedicated to understanding and managing security risks while enabling our engineering and product design partners to continue making world-class software.

Mixpanel's Information Security & Risk Management (ISRM) team is hiring a GRC Specialist to own the day-to-day operations of our GRC function. You'll be the first line of response for customer security requests and third-party risk work, keeping our pipeline moving so senior analysts can focus on risk judgment. This is a growth role with a defined path to GRC Analyst.

Responsibilities

  • Customer security questionnaires: Partner with teams across the company to complete customer security questionnaires, and keep stakeholders informed of progress.
  • Third-party risk management: Support our third-party risk management program by running vendor intake, gathering and verifying security documentation, and tracking each vendor's status as it moves through review, remediation, and renewal.
  • Request management: Serve as the first point of contact for incoming GRC requests, triaging them and escalating items that need deeper review.
  • Compliance operations: Follow up with control owners, vendors, and internal teams on open remediation and compliance items until they're closed, and triage alerts from our compliance monitoring platform.
  • Content accuracy: Keep the information we share with customers current by flagging outdated or inconsistent content and driving the corrections.
  • Automation and improvement: Use AI tools to streamline repetitive GRC workflows, proactively identify improvement opportunities, and document your work so the team can reuse it.

We're Looking For Someone With

  • 1-2 years of experience in GRC, security compliance, vendor risk, or a related role
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g. Claude Code, Claude Cowork) to automate repetitive GRC workflows
  • Self-directed, resourceful, and comfortable with ambiguity, with the ability to make progress on incomplete requests with little direction, find information (documentation, tooling, internal teams)ask the right follow-up questions, and know when to escalate.
  • Sound judgment and initiative, including using autonomy to make decisions within your scope, spotting areas for improvement, proposing solutions, and running with them while escalating larger changes.
  • Understanding of risk management processes, including how risks are identified, assessed, and tracked, and how they apply across the third-party lifecycle (due diligence, risk assessment, remediation tracking, and ongoing monitoring)
  • Baseline understanding of security systems and processes (e.g., access management, logging, encryption, vulnerability management) and of audit processes and frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001, including how evidence and control testing work
  • Ability to understand what a customer is asking in a security request and respond accurately, including interpreting intent behind loosely worded or unfamiliar questions
  • Ability to translate audit and compliance requirements into clear, actionable asks for engineering teams
  • Motivation to learn and grow with curiosity about security and compliance, and a desire to build a career in the GRC space.
  • Comfort with scrutiny, including explaining and defending your work with evidence when customers, vendors, engineers, or auditors challenge it, and treating review feedback as input for improvement
  • Strong written communication and follow-through, with the ability to coordinate across teams, manage many concurrent items, and work independently across time zones

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Vanta or another GRC platform
  • Experience with Freshservice or another ticketing system
  • Experience with third-party risk management tools
  • Scripting or no-code automation experience (e.g., Python, Zapier)
  • CompTIA Security+, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer, or similar entry-level certification

What Success Looks Like

  • First 3 months: You make independent decisions on routine requests, understand our vendor intake and questionnaire processes end-to-end, and know when to escalate.
  • By 6 months: You own the vendor intake pipeline and coordinate questionnaire responses with minimal oversight, and customers and vendors in your time zone get faster responses.
  • By 12 months: You've automated at least one recurring workflow with AI tools, documented it for the team, and are ready to take on more, such as vendor risk reviews, as you grow toward GRC Analyst.

Growth Path

This role is the entry point of a defined GRC career path. As you build experience, you can grow into GRC Analyst, where you'll complete customer questionnaires and vendor risk reviews, review vendor renewals, support audits, and maintain customer-facing security information. From there, the path continues to Senior GRC Analyst.
