About the Team

This role sits at the center of Mixpanel’s financial decision making: owning the corporate models, budgets and KPIs that inform the CEO, CFO, and Board of Directors. You will partner across the Finance organization and cross-functionally with executive leadership to deliver insight that shapes strategy, resource allocation, and performance management.

About the Role

The Senior Director Corporate FP&A will be a strategic partner to the CFO and executive team driving scalable growth by connecting financial forecasting with deep data insights and operational efficiency. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will lead Mixpanel’s FP&A, decision support, and reporting functions, owning the financial narrative that guides how we invest, scale, and win in the market. You will partner closely with the executive team, department heads, and key stakeholders to develop and implement short- and long-term financial models and strategies that align with the company’s strategic and financial objectives. This individual will be a senior leader who is a change agent and builder. You will design the processes and frameworks that don't yet exist or aren’t scalable today, not just operate inside the ones that do. This role will also champion the use of AI, automation, and advanced analytics within Corporate FP&A to improve forecast accuracy, accelerate reporting cycles, and free capacity for higher‑value strategic work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead company-wide budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning, aligning top-down financial targets with bottoms-up functional plans, strategic priorities, and operating accountability.
  • Own and continuously improve the corporate financial model, including revenue, gross margin, operating expense, headcount, cash flow, scenario planning, and long-range projections.
  • Establish a disciplined rolling forecast and business review cadence, providing leadership with timely visibility into performance, risks, opportunities, forecast accuracy, and required actions.
  • Develop executive, Board, investor, and lender reporting packages that clearly communicate financial results, business drivers, outlook, key risks, and strategic tradeoffs.
  • Define, standardize, and govern key financial and operating metrics, ensuring consistent KPI definitions, reporting integrity, and clear source-of-truth ownership across the business.
  • Partner with leaders across GTM, Product, Engineering, G&A, and People to support resource allocation, investment decisions, hiring plans, headcount governance, and operating discipline.
  • Deliver deep-dive analysis on revenue drivers, expense optimization, and overall risk/opportunity management.
  • Provide financial analysis and decision support for strategic initiatives, including new product launches, pricing and packaging, international expansion, business model evolution, M&A, and major investment decisions.
  • Build and scale FP&A processes, systems, dashboards, automation, and self-service reporting capabilities, leveraging BI, AI, and workflow tools to improve speed, accuracy, and decision quality.
  • Champion an AI‑first mindset within Corporate FP&A and share learnings across Finance.
  • Hire, manage, and develop a high-performing FP&A team, fostering a culture of rigorous analysis, business partnership, healthy challenge, and independent insight.
  • Contribute to global procurement strategy to optimize vendor management and drive cost efficiencies.

We're Looking For Someone Who Has

  • 12+ years of progressive finance experience, including 5+ years in an executive leadership role within a high-growth SaaS or technology company.
  • Strong ability to translate business strategy into financial plans, drive forecasting rigor, and deliver actionable insights to influence executive decision-making.
  • Demonstrated track record of building and improving corporate planning processes, financial models, and reporting frameworks in a complex environment.
  • Deep understanding of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, including driver‑based and scenario modelling.
  • Ability to gather, manipulate, and manage large datasets from multiple sources, understand complex data relationships, and draw conclusions that recommend the best course of action.
  • Direct people-management experience, with a track record of hiring and developing a strong finance function.
  • Clear, direct communication skills - comfortable turning complex financial analysis into a story a CFO can act on immediately.
  • A degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced skills in Excel/Sheets and financial modelling; experience with planning tools (e.g., Pigment, Anaplan, Adaptive) and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) is a plus.
