Job Overview

As we chart our next phase of growth, we are seeking a Buyer who will develop high-level product by focusing on how profitability, product positioning and forecasted growth will continue to build the brand identity.  The Buyer is responsible for ensuring the development, execution, and communication of category strategies that will meet or exceed financial goals. They must lead cross functional relationships successfully with key partners (Design, Product Development, Production, Creative, and Commercial counterparts).  This role will join the Dallas-based office and report to the SVP of Merchandising.

Responsibilities and Duties

 

  • In partnership with the SVP, build a seasonal line architecture that supports financial targets and delivers a cohesive product/accessories collection that’s on brand for our channels of distribution.
  • Establish and maintain effective partnerships across the organization: Design, Ecommerce, Sales, PD, Planning, Marketing
  • In partnership with the SVP, develop short and long-term product assortment strategies that align with the Brand vision, financial plans, channel, and customer needs.
  • Support seasonal kickoff strategies and ensure cross-functional alignment on channel and market needs throughout the entire GTM process.
  • Analyze category performance weekly and monthly to drive category strategies and maximize growth.
  • Own item creation and sku entry to support purchase order creation and any attributes needed through the PD process.
  • Create line architecture inclusive of SKU counts, SKU productivity, differentiation, and price tier that support organizational and channel goals; curate and recommend assortment for each channel to successfully meet SKU needs.
  • Support price architecture strategy on margin and value proposition across categories in partnership with Planning.
  • Along with Design, deliver, and curate compelling product assortments that are brand-enhancing and customer-focused.
  • Partner with Product and Planning teams to ensure inventory buys align with design and merchandising intent, and support all financial goals of the organization.
  • Partner with Design and brand leadership to deliver key looks, volume drivers, and big Ideas for the seasons.
  • Participate in GTM meetings, with clear next steps and action items, thereafter – always through a lens of clear communication. 
  • Actively participate in appropriate business reviews and in-season product decisions.
  • Visit competition to stay abreast of market trends and apply learnings to current and future assortments.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related apparel experience in developing and executing buying and merchandising strategies.  Experience in Men’s apparel required.
  • Experience in product development, and relevant market analysis, with a knowledge of product design, fabrics, and colors.  
  • Hands on experience working with the design team and the product.
  • Strong financial acumen and knowledge of an Open To Buy process.
  • Strategic and analytical, clearly driven by conceptualizing future opportunities & developing strategic product & business initiatives.  
  • Ability to assess the business and offer insights and recommendations.
  • A creative solution-oriented, out-of-the-box thinker with excellent communication skills.
  • Superior level of accuracy, ability to lead with structure and discipline to drive business through a highly organized approach.
  • Proven track record of working in an environment where collaboration with cross-functional partners is a key focus and speed is crucial. 
  • Software knowledge in platforms like Toolio, PLM, NetSuite , Nu Order preferred.
  • Have the ability to instill confidence in cross-functional partners.
