Job Overview

Mizzen and Main is looking for highly motivated Business Data Analyst to join our FP&A team. The Financial Planning & Analysis team is responsible for supporting profitable growth and operational efficiency through data driven insights. The primary focus this role is to generate actionable insights by leveraging financial, marketing, and operational data to provide stakeholders with thoughtful, strategic support.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • 30% Business Analysis:
    • Support data initiatives and deliver deep analyses relating to strategic and financial explorations using large, and disparate data sets - analyzing for new opportunities, enhanced efficiency, and business trends
    • Leverage data and analytics to derive patterns, trends and insights, and perform scenario modeling
    • Coordinate with various stakeholders to help implement and measure recommended actions 
  • 25% Financial Analysis Support: prepare month-end variance analysis, stakeholder revenue and expense tracking reporting, and other key financial metrics
  • 25% Financial Forecasting and Modeling: support annual plan development and ongoing financial forecasting, short and long-range planning, and financial impact modeling
  • 20% Analytics Development: develop and enhance end-user BI reporting development to monitor performance indicators

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, statistics, mathematics, economics, or other analytical or quantitative discipline.
  • 3+ years professional experience in strategic planning, financial planning, consulting, or reporting and analytics.
  • 3+ years of professional experience building required datasets to create and manage reporting using data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Looker)
  • Excellent quantitative and analytic skills; ability to derive patterns, trends and insights, and perform risk/reward trade-off analysis.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with ability to connect analytics to business impacts and keep cross-functional stakeholders aligned; comfortable presenting to peers and management.
  • Extremely detail-oriented; intellectual curiosity.
  • Strong project management and self-directed prioritization skills

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • SQL proficiency (i.e. advanced joins, views/table distinctions, and basic query optimizations)
  • Working understanding of database structures, query optimizations, ETL development
  • Experience automating analytics tasks (i.e. intermediate coding skills (VBA, Python, etc.)
  • Consumer industry experience
