ABOUT THE ROLE

The Director of Golf Sales will be responsible for strategically leading and executing Mizzen+Main's sales initiatives within the golf market. This pivotal role will focus on building and managing a robust network of 1099 independent sales representatives, significantly driving revenue growth, and expanding our distribution footprint across golf pro shops, country clubs, and specialty golf retailers nationwide. This is a remote position requiring strong self-motivation, exceptional leadership, and a proven track record in sales.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Sales Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive national sales strategy for the golf channel, aligning with overall company objectives and revenue targets.
  • Identify and prioritize key markets and accounts for growth within the golf industry.
  • Analyze sales data and market trends to identify opportunities and challenges, adjusting strategies accordingly.
  • Forecast sales and manage budgets effectively to achieve profitability goals.

1099 Sales Rep Management & Recruitment

  • Recruit, onboard, train, and manage a high-performing team of 1099 independent sales representatives across the country.
  • Set clear sales targets and KPIs for the rep team, providing ongoing coaching, support, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-energy sales environment, motivating reps to exceed expectations.
  • Develop and implement effective commission structures and incentive programs.

Revenue Generation & Account Growth

  • Directly responsible for achieving and exceeding ambitious revenue targets within the golf channel.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, golf course operators, and retail partners.
  • Identify new business opportunities and strategically pursue high-potential accounts to expand market share.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase "door count" (number of retail locations carrying Mizzen+Main golf apparel).
  • Work closely with marketing to develop compelling sales tools, presentations, and promotional materials tailored for the golf market.

Product & Market Feedback

  • Act as a key liaison between the sales team and internal product development/merchandising teams, providing valuable market insights and feedback on product performance, customer needs, and competitive landscape within the golf industry.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities in the golf apparel market.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 7-10+ years of progressive sales experience, with 3-5 years in a leadership or management role, specifically within the golf industry or premium apparel sector.
  • Proven success in building, managing, and motivating independent sales teams 
  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed sales targets and drive significant revenue growth.
  • Extensive network and established relationships within the golf industry (e.g., green grass accounts, pro shops, distributors).
  • Strong understanding of golf apparel market trends, consumer preferences, and competitive landscape.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Highly organized with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to travel extensively nationwide as needed (up to 50-75%).
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working independently in a remote environment.
