
2026 Complex Leagues Data Operations (LAKELAND, FL)
Major League Baseball (MLB) is seeking Florida Complex League Data Operations seasonal personnel for a hybrid role, scoring Complex League games based on Rule 9 of the Official Baseball Rules and relaying all play-by-play digitally for live box scores and record keeping.
This is a seasonal role that requires regular onsite attendance at the ballpark. MLB does not provide any form of relocation assistance and you will be responsible for your transportation needs. Please apply for positions in the market where you are currently located.
Responsibilities
- Availability to work at a ballpark, with most games starting between 10am-12pm ET Monday-Saturday. Arrive no later than 45 minutes prior to scheduled start.
- Collect rosters and other applicable information
- Keep a detailed scorecard of the game
- Make all necessary scoring and pitching decisions
- Coordinate with MLB Data Operations via Slack
- Participation in seasonal training when necessary and reasonably required
- Routine day-to-day correspondence via email, Slack, voice call and/or text message, to keep current with coverage schedules and other scheduled assignments.
- Other game-day responsibilities as determined by supervisor(s).
Qualifications and Skills
- Exceptional (and demonstrable) knowledge of the Official Baseball Rules, and especially Section 9 of OBR.
- Ability to clearly communicate information via Slack, and to effectively clarify Official Scoring rules and scoring decisions, when necessary.
- Attention to detail in keeping a scorecard and tracking game totals for each player/team.
- Demeanor to accept constructive criticism and instruction, and patience to deal with critique of performance from various parties (i.e. clubs, players).
- Strong computer proficiency and the ability to quickly learn and operate new software. You’ll be required to use your own device at the ballpark.
- A "team player" with a great attitude, including but not limited to a willingness to make and learn from mistakes and the ability to work closely and cooperatively (and take direction from) our game-day staff
- Previous Official Scoring experience in professional or amateur baseball is strongly preferred but not required
- Previous experience (including press box exposure) with a professional or college sports team, preferably baseball, is preferred
- Regular availability to attend games in-person as required by the schedule: weekdays and weekends
Pay Range: $22.50 per hour

There is a correspondence training program before working any games solo in the ballpark.
