In honoring the legacy and career of Billy Bean, The Billy Bean Fellowship is designed to provide a focused post-graduate baseball operations experience to high-potential candidates for employment who may not have been identified by Clubs through traditional recruiting avenues. MLB expects one or more of the fellowships to be awarded to a military veteran. Former professional players are also encouraged to apply.

The Billy Bean Fellowship provides an intensive opportunity to gain exposure within various aspects of baseball operations (Major League operations, research and development, baseball analytics, player development, software engineering, etc.) for a period of up to 18 months.
