Sr. Network Engineer
Secaucus, NJ
MLB Network seeks a Sr. Network Engineer to join their team and work specifically within the corporate and broadcast network infrastructure, network observability/automation systems, wireless infrastructure and remote access systems.
Responsibilities:
- Provide network expertise in the maintenance, management, and support of both broadcast and office networks.
- Work with network architects and engineers on the integration and schematic depiction of communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission, signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations.
- Monitor network health and perform system tuning.
- Recommend and implement system improvements and architectural changes to meet business objectives.
- Implement, support, and manage daily user network requests, hardware installation, and user connectivity.
- Contribute significantly in the evaluation of new products, perform network problem resolution and assist in the development and documentation of technical standards and interface applications.
- Manage and support enterprise and broadcast firewalls (Palo Alto, F5, Cisco).
- Demonstrate technical ownership over projects and initiatives.
- Provide multi-tier troubleshooting support working with the user support team and the operations staff to effectively manage and monitor all systems - including the preparation of design, as-built documentation and troubleshooting guides.
- Manage and support MLB Network’s video networks. This includes on-site as well as MLB Network’s remote video networks.
- Multiple-day travel to provide onsite IT network support at “jewel events” may be required.
- Must be able to effectively work and multi-task in a rapid paced 7/24/365 pressurized, live broadcast environment.
- Stay current with system information, changes and updates.
- Work with subject matter experts on networking and server projects to improve the end user experience.
- Other such duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Must have 7+ years’ experience configuring, deploying, and supporting network technology from multiple vendors including Cisco (IOS, NX-OS), Arista, Palo Alto, F5, etc. and 5+ years’ experience with wireless networks.
- Experience in the television, advertising, affiliate sales or production industries is a plus.
- Robust understanding of implementation and troubleshooting of routing protocols
- Experience implementing and troubleshooting of Multicast and Unicast traffic
- Ability to perform capacity planning for all network resources including network devices and circuits.
- Hands-on experience implementing firewall policy on Palo Alto (Panorama).
- Knowledge of 2110 networking solutions preferred.
- Experience with cloud network configurations (Azure preferred)
- Must be able to lead small teams as necessary and possess good interpersonal and communication skills. when interacting with team members and outside user groups.
- This position requires a self-motivated individual who can interface with a diverse group of people and situations.
- Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, and superior people skills required in the pressurized environment of live television.
- This position requires the ability to work independently, prioritize and to be a proactive thinker.
- Knowledge and experience of customer service practices.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed - including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Needs to be highly professional, courteous, organized, and demonstrate initiative and an ability to complete multiple assignments in a timely manner.
- Must be able to travel domestically and internationally for multiple days in a row as assigned.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Possess the manual dexterity to effectively operate keyboard/mouse on computers, edit equipment, etc.
- Possess the visual acuity needed to effectively deliver required work product.
- Possess the auditory acuity needed to effectively deliver required work product.
- Ability to sit, stand, kneel, bend, twist, and turn for sufficient lengths of time in order to effectively deliver required work product.
- Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in IT / Technical Communications, Broadcast IT, Cisco CCNA or equivalent related experience is preferred.
