Engineer

MLB Network seeks an Engineer to provide engineering support for a state of the art television facility.

Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintain multiple studio production environments.
  • Support large postproduction and SAN systems.
  • Support advanced television graphics systems.
  • Support transmission systems and earth station.
  • Take ownership of assigned vendor issues until full resolution.
  • Lead the management of broadcast technologies from an engineering and operational level.
  • Other such duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • The position requires a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience supporting studio and postproduction environments.
  • Experience supporting production switchers, multi-viewer systems, large scale audio consoles, and intercom systems.
  • The applicant should have knowledge of basic computer and networking skills including Microsoft Office suite products. AutoCAD knowledge a plus.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn.
  • Advanced knowledge of current and future television systems and formats, including SMPTE 2110.
  • An understanding of common video compression standards (MPEG2, H.264/AVC, HEVC) as well as video transmission protocols/formats (MPEG2 transport stream, SCTE35, ASI, RTP, SRT, RIST) a plus.
  • Understanding of fiber optic and copper networking technologies.
  • Candidate should be a self-starter and a team player.
  • Must be detail oriented, meticulous and able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, and superior people skills required in the pressurized environment of live television.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Possess the manual dexterity needed to effectively create required work product.
  • Possess the visual acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
  • Possess the auditory acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
  • Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent level of experience.

Position Reports to:

  • Manager, Engineering

Pay Range: $104,000.00 - $125,000.00

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB Network considers relevant to the hiring decision.
