Financial Analyst

Secaucus, NJ

MLB Network seeks a Financial Analyst with a strong foundation in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) to identify issues and trends, develop thoughtful recommendations, and perform accurate financial analysis in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans for MLB Network (MLBN), MLB Local Media, and other affiliated entities. This role operates in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and requires the ability to manage changing priorities, increasing volume, and evolving business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner in the preparation and presentation of annual operating budgets, forecasts, and long-range plans for MLBN, MLB Local Media, and other affiliated entities, providing updates and analyses to support business planning, and presenting key information in clear, visually engaging formats (e.g., PowerPoint, dashboards) for stakeholders.
  • Support and execute key processes in financial closings and reporting, including preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages and ad hoc analyses, as needed.
  • Analyze data and identify opportunities to enhance reporting, processes, and decision-making.
  • Monitor financial and operating KPIs, identify trends or issues, and provide actionable insights to support management decision-making.
  • Prepare, maintain, and monitor accurate monthly cash flow reporting for MLB Local Media.
  • Review invoice coding and other financial transactions, as appropriate, providing guidance as needed to ensure accurate reporting, consistency, and identification of key items.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to improve financial systems, reports, and dashboards to meet evolving business needs.
  • Support the tracking and fulfillment of contractual commitments as required.
  • Continuously develop expertise in FP&A practices while building knowledge of MLBN, MLB Local Media, and other affiliated entities.
  • Other such duties as required.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 1–3 years of financial analysis or related business experience.
  • Experience with regional sports networks or local sports media is highly preferred.
  • Background in television, advertising, affiliate sales, or knowledge of production finance/accounting is a plus.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across the organization, including remote teams such as MLB Local Media and MLB Office of the Commissioner.
  • Strong organizational and proactive skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments, contribute to projects, support process improvements, and work independently in a dynamic environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and experience with financial reporting systems.
  • Familiarity with ERPs such as Oracle Fusion and BI tools such as Preql, Board, Tableau, Power BI, Adaptive Planning, and other similar platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as required.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and/or kneel for extended periods of time.
  • Possess the manual dexterity needed to effectively create required work product.
  • Possess the visual acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
  • Possess the auditory acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
  • Must possess excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.

Education:

  • Bachelors degree is required; Finance or Accounting major is highly preferred.

Position Reports to:

  • Chief Financial Officer

Pay Range: $80,000 - $90,000

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB Network considers relevant to the hiring decision.
