About the Role
As a Staff Data Scientist, you will be part of the Data Science team which delivers end-to-end solutions at the cutting edge of developments in AI. The goal of the team is to build solutions that capitalize on the latest advancements in large language models (LLMs), vision language models (VLMs), as well as traditional machine learning and rule-based methods, and are generalizable to a multitude of client industries, with a focus on document understanding, ingestion, and predictive modeling.
Responsibilities include prototyping and building core ML microservice platforms, utilizing NLP methods and computer vision to automate and optimize customer processes, as well as increase user engagement, designing and applying NLP models to free-form text data, building computer vision and multi-modal models to digest scanned documents, and using classic CV methods to process images. The long-term objective is to host a suite of such solutions that can be applied to multiple verticals, that are versatile and quickly adaptable to each client’s use cases, and that beat any off-the-shelf, expensive, and not fine-tuned pre-trained models’ performance on any given task.
You will also be interacting and collaborating with clients directly; as a project leader, you will be responsible for negotiating and designing project scopes, deliverables details, and timelines, as well as managing clients’ expectations.
Outside of client-facing responsibilities, you will be in charge of reviewing the latest literature on advancements of technology/techniques related to our work, evaluating the relevance and efficacy of such advancements, conducting experiments of such techniques on our existing projects, and making recommendations on if and how they can be adapted to improve our range of capabilities. You will also be in charge of providing extensive guidance to data scientists and senior data scientists within the team.
