Join a small but mighty team that provides high-quality support and innovative solutions at Mobi. As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining our AWS infrastructure, managing configuration changes, and ensuring system performance and reliability. With Mobi’s rapid growth, you will have exposure to a variety of infrastructure projects across the company and contribute to a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
What you can expect in this role:
Execution (40-50%)
- Perform core DevOps tasks, including building, deploying, and managing applications.
- Automate and optimize CI/CD pipelines to ensure efficient, reliable software delivery.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues, implementing solutions to optimize resource utilization and system behavior.
- Provide off-business hour support during emergencies to maintain uptime and reliability.
Discovery, Strategy, and System-Level Contributions (50-60%)
- Collaborate with engineering teams to take a holistic view of our infrastructure and applications, ensuring alignment with product and business goals.
- Identify, analyze, and solve complex infrastructure and application issues.
- Contribute to system design, networking, logging/monitoring, and analysis to improve infrastructure performance.
- Lead the development of complex projects with significant ambiguity, ensuring high-quality and timely execution.
Technical Leadership and Collaboration
- Take ownership of the development and maintenance of entire modules, serving as an internal expert and advisor to other engineers.
- Debug system-level interactions and manage dependencies to ensure smooth integration across systems.
- Maintain a strong product sense, aligning technical decisions with business and product goals.
- Interact with customers, partners, and stakeholders as needed to provide technical solutions and gather feedback.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, suggesting improvements to processes and workflows.
What you need to have:
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong coding and design capabilities, with 5+ years of industry experience in DevOps or related technical fields.
- Experience managing AWS infrastructure and automation of deployment processes.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to solve system-level problems.
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university or college with a focus in Computer Science
- A master’s degree is preferred but not required.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment and clarity across all levels.
- Experience working with customers and partners to gather feedback and offer technical solutions when needed.
- Leadership & Ownership:
- Ability to take ownership of complex projects and guide them from inception to completion.
- Strong sense of responsibility and ability to make decisions in the face of ambiguity.
- Previous experience with mentoring junior engineers and improving team processes.
- Additional Requirements:
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively, stay calm under pressure, and handle emergency situations with poise.
- Creative problem-solving skills, especially when dealing with ambiguity and complex challenges.
- This is an in-office role based in Somerville, MA, with the flexibility to work from home up to 2 days per week.
