The Company was founded by a group of executives and investors with unique expertise in oncology care and health system partnerships, having previously founded American Oncology Resources, The US Oncology Network, OneOncology, and Select Medical, with additional executive experiences at Flatiron Health, Evidation Health and Via Oncology.
Position Summary
MO is seeking to expand the Accounting team by adding an Accounting Manager during a pivotal period of organizational growth. Reporting directly to the VP Corporate Controller, this position is responsible for core accounting functions including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation with additional focus on establishing scalable processes to support our expanding operations. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a team that builds our company’s financial systems and processes from the ground up. This role will be a key contributor in our upcoming ERP implementation. We seek a candidate who combines strong technical accounting expertise with an entrepreneurial mindset—someone who views the challenge of designing scalable processes and robust internal controls as an exciting opportunity.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate brings solid technical accounting expertise, preferably with healthcare industry experience, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This person must be adaptable, resourceful, and prepared to take on any project. In this role you will lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations. You will analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities for our organization while supporting the forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning functions as needed. You will assume additional projects and responsibilities as we continue to build out our accounting team. The successful candidate demonstrates composure under pressure and approaches challenges with a steady, solutions-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries with accuracy and timeliness
- Prepare and review monthly account reconciliations
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions
- Maintain the Chart of Accounts
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Manage and ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes
- Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting standards and company policies
- Maintain robust internal controls
- Support external audit activities and provide requested documentation
- Manage payroll processing and ensure accuracy
- Maintain multi-state tax registrations and payroll accounts
- Manage staff and senior accountants hired into our organization as we build our accounting department
ERP Implementation, Health System Performance Tracking, & Budgeting
- Serve as a key participant in the company's ERP implementation, including requirements gathering, testing, and user training
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of budgets and forecasts, including variance analysis, trend identification, and collaboration with department leaders
- Partner with operations team to extract and validate financial and operational data from the company's data warehouse environment to ensure accuracy and consistency for Health System reporting
- Identify opportunities to develop accounting processes that scale with organizational growth
- Develop and document accounting procedures and policies to support strong internal controls
- Support the evaluation and implementation of new accounting software and tools
AP, AR, and Fixed Asset Management
- Manage accounts payable processes including invoice review, approval workflows, and vendor relationship management
- Oversee accounts receivable functions and monitor aging reports
- Process and reconcile cash disbursements and receipts
- Maintain fixed asset records including capitalization, depreciation calculations, and disposal documentation
- Ensure adherence to company capitalization policies
Collaboration & Strategic Support
- Partner with the VP Corporate Controller on special projects and financial analysis initiatives
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting matters and provide financial insights
- Communicate effectively with vendors, health system partners, and internal stakeholders with data-driven analysis
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, or similar)
- Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables and XLOOKUP functions
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities with capacity to manage multiple priorities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work onsite in our Nashville, TN office
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
- Big 4 Public accounting experience, particularly in audit
- Experience posting journal entries and preparing/reviewing account reconciliations
- Experience with month-end and year-end close processes
- Healthcare industry experience
- Direct involvement in ERP implementation or system conversion projects
