Manager, Legal Operations

Manager, Legal Operations

Model Oncology | Nashville, TN (or remote/hybrid)

About Model Oncology

Model Oncology partners with community health systems to build and operate sustainable oncology programs. The organization does not function as a conventional consultancy that delivers a strategy and exits, nor as a traditional management services organization administering back-office functions at a distance. Model Oncology embeds within each partner system, operating alongside health system teams and assuming accountability for program outcomes over the long term.

The organization's work encompasses program design, physician recruitment, pharmacy strategy, payer contracting, and the operational infrastructure required for community health systems to deliver high-quality cancer care locally. Model Oncology holds itself to the standard of a genuine, accountable partner rather than a vendor.

Position Summary

Model Oncology is seeking a Manager, Legal Operations to support the legal and contracting functions of our organization. Reporting to the Chief Marketing & People Officer, this individual will work closely with leadership, finance, HR and business development to manage health system contracts, corporate filings, and compliance documentation. This is a foundational hire within the legal function, with the expectation that responsibilities and processes will evolve as the organization scales.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and manage contracts, including partnership agreements, vendor agreements, employment documents, and non-disclosure agreements
  • Maintain corporate records, entity filings, and compliance documentation across all markets in which the organization operates
  • Track contract lifecycles, including key dates, renewal terms, and obligations, and escalate issues as appropriate
  • Support due diligence efforts related to new health system partnerships and business development initiatives
  • Serve as the internal point of contact for outside counsel on matters requiring external legal support
  • Assist with HR-related compliance documentation, including offer letters, employee handbook updates, and policy language, in coordination with the People team
  • Develop and maintain organized, scalable systems for contract and document management as the organization grows

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of paralegal experience, preferably within healthcare, corporate, or another fast-paced operating environment
  • Demonstrated skill in contract drafting and review, including sound judgment regarding when matters require escalation to outside counsel
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent work-streams under competing deadlines
  • Clear and precise written communication
  • Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Comfort operating within an early-stage environment in which processes are still being established
  • Paralegal certificate or equivalent professional experience required; familiarity with healthcare regulatory frameworks (Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, HIPAA) preferred

Why Model Oncology

Model Oncology is a fast growing experienced team engaged in work with significant real-world impact: expanding access to cancer care in the communities that need it most. Given the organization's early stage, this role offers the opportunity for immediate, visible contribution and meaningful influence over how the legal function is built as the organization scales.
