Senior Brand Manager, New Experiences

Stockholm

Mojang Studios is best known as the creators of Minecraft, but we’re also on a mission – to build a better world through the power of play.

Why play? Well, play is at the heart of everything we do. It’s the blocky backbone of our games, the core of our development philosophy, and even the origin of our name. From the relentless experimentation of our endlessly inspiring community to the classrooms where Minecraft has become an essential teaching tool, play is the bedrock of our existence.

About the Role

Minecraft is expanding how new players and fans discover, experience, and build a lasting connection with the franchise.

The Senior Brand Manager, New Experiences will define and lead brand & marketing strategy for a growing portfolio of games, creating deliberate entry points into Minecraft while ensuring each has a clear audience, positioning strategy, and portfolio role.

This leader will bring brand & marketing upstream into product development. They will partner with franchise creative leadership, developers, and internal plus external partners so audience insight, market opportunity, brand strategy, and player needs shape decisions from concept through development. As an advocate for the player and market, the role will define not only how an experience is marketed, but who it serves, why it should exist, and how it can strengthen the Minecraft ecosystem.

The role will also provide strategic go-to-market leadership across the New Experiences portfolio, directly driving programs where appropriate or providing planning support for publishing and development partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define Portfolio Strategy

Define the strategy for New Experiences across console, PC, and mobile. Set the role, audience, opportunity, and franchise fit for each experience.

  • Shape Product, Audience & Positioning Strategy

  • Lead Go-to-Market Strategy

Drive GTM strategy, including audience, positioning, messaging, launch approach, channels, and success measures. Lead marketing directly or guide publishing partners, depending on the model.

  • Lead Cross-Functional Alignment

Align product, creative, development, marketing, and publishing teams around priorities, decisions, dependencies, and execution.

  • Build Scalable Ways of Working

Create frameworks, planning processes, briefs, and decision principles that can be used across the New Experiences portfolio. Apply learnings from development and launches to improve future work.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • At least 5-7 years of experience in marketing, publishing, communications, media or games, including experience leading people, projects or teams.
  • Experience leading brand or product marketing for a large, globally recognized consumer brand, ideally within gaming, entertainment, media, consumer technology, or fast-moving consumer goods.
  • Experience developing audience strategy, positioning, and go-to-market strategies, particularly for new products.
  • Experience using consumer research, market intelligence, cultural trends, and performance data to influence product and marketing decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives and influence senior product, creative, development, and marketing stakeholders.

Bonus

  • Experience working across multiple products, brands, or experiences and balancing individual product opportunities with broader portfolio or franchise objectives.

Mojang Studios

Mojang Studios is a Microsoft-owned game developer. The company was founded in Stockholm, Sweden and has offices around the world, including Stockholm, Redmond, Tokyo, London, and Shanghai. We’re always working on new and exciting ways to expand the Minecraft universe.

Our community is global and incredibly diverse. We keep this in mind when developing anything, as we want people to feel included in Minecraft. And in recruiting, our goal is to make Mojang Studios as diverse as our community.

To help us achieve amazing things, we have built an equally amazing studio space. Situated right on the water by Söder Mälarstrand, it’s filled to the brim with all the tools, toys and caffeine required to create world-class entertainment.

But in the end, it’s the people of Mojang Studios that make this place truly special. When you join, you’ll find yourself in the company of incredibly bright, warm, and creative individuals – all united and working toward a single goal. Come help us reach it!
