The Opportunity
As Senior Accountant, your tasks will revolve around all areas relating to accounting functions and financial reporting. This position will be responsible for daily, weekly and monthly accounting tasks and activities, as well as recording transactions. This position must meet tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation and financial reporting.

Responsibilities and Duties
This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial operations, including recording daily banking activity, maintaining cashflow reports, and preparing weekly treasury, procurement, and payment reviews. The position manages weekly expense processing, performs monthly account reconciliations and accruals, posts depreciation and employee cost allocations, and oversees monthly and quarterly sales tax filings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily banking activities, including recording transactions and maintaining a real-time cashflow spreadsheet.
- Prepare and distribute accurate weekly treasury and procurement reports to management.
- Oversee the weekly processing of employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policy.
- Review and validate weekly payment batches for proper General Ledger (GL) coding and completeness of supporting documentation.
- Execute all monthly balance sheet and key subsidiary ledger account reconciliations.
- Manage the accurate and timely completion of all month-end journal entries, including posting accruals (unrecorded bills, accrued bonuses, travel expenses, etc.).
- Process and reconcile fixed asset depreciation, ensuring the accumulated depreciation balances align with the GL.
- Post and reconcile the monthly allocation of employee costs to projects.
- Conduct in-depth Budget to Actual variance analysis and prepare insightful reporting for departmental leaders.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of all required monthly and quarterly sales tax returns and reporting.
- Assist with year-end audit preparation and working paper requirements.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and high-performance accounting team culture.
The Candidate
We’re looking for individuals with the following traits, skills, and experiences:
- Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field.
- Qualified accountant with 5 years’ experience in a similar position.
- Experience with Budget to Actual reporting
- Experience with contract accounting and other long-term revenue contracts
- Comfortable working independently, but collaborative and communicative with teammates.
- Detail-oriented and naturally organized, you love systems, checklists, and follow-through.
- Experience with construction projects and accounting is also a plus
- Tech-savvy and familiar with tools like Google Workspace.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
