Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quality Assurance Manager to lead our quality operations and ensure that every Momentous product meets our rigorous standards for safety, efficacy, and compliance. This role will report into the SVP of Supply Chain and will oversee all aspects of quality assurance across our supply chain, from raw material sourcing through finished product release, while building and leading a world-class QA team. The successful candidate will excel at proactive issue resolution, maintain comprehensive documentation systems, and demonstrate an unwavering focus on quality excellence.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Supply Chain Quality: Vendor qualification, auditing, and continuous improvement
  • Product Integrity: Testing protocols, specifications, and release procedures
  • Team Leadership: Building a high-performing QA organization
  • Strategic Planning: Quality system optimization and risk management

Responsibilities:

Quality Systems & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality management processes and tools in compliance with FDA regulations (21 CFR Part 111 - cGMP), NSF/ANSI standards, and international supplement guidelines
  • Support regulatory strategy for new product launches, label claims substantiation, and facility registrations
  • Oversee HACCP, and other programs
  • Ensure compliance with USP, NSF for Sport, Informed Sport, and other certification programs

Supply Chain & Vendor Management

  • Establish and execute vendor qualification, approval, and on-going monitoring programs
  • Conduct supplier audits and capability assessments for raw materials, finished products, and co-manufacturers
  • Develop and maintain supplier scorecards and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Oversee certificate of analysis (COA) review and raw material release processes
  • Manage quality agreements and specifications with all supply chain partners

Product Quality & Testing

  • Design and implement comprehensive testing standards for identity, purity, potency, and safety
  • Oversee in-house and third-party laboratory testing programs
  • Manage product specifications, stability studies, and shelf-life validation
  • Lead investigation and resolution of quality deviations, customer complaints, and product recalls
  • Establish statistical process control and trending analysis programs

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Issue Management

  • Work closely with Customer Service teams on critical issues including escalations, product recalls, and customer complaints
  • Manage real-time quality issues with immediate cross-functional response and resolution
  • Lead proactive issue identification and resolution initiatives to prevent quality problems before they occur

Documentation & Knowledge Management

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of quality documentation, policies & procedures, and best practices
  • Ensure all quality processes, decisions, and investigations are thoroughly documented and easily accessible
  • Implement robust document control systems to maintain version control and compliance

Leadership & Team Development

  • Build, lead, and mentor a team 
  • Develop training programs on quality procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
  • Foster a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement throughout the organization
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Product and Commercial teams

Strategic Planning & Risk Management

  • Develop long-term quality strategy aligned with business objectives and regulatory landscape
  • Identify and assess quality risks across the product lifecycle and supply chain
  • Lead quality metrics reporting and KPI development for executive leadership
  • Drive cost-effective quality improvements and operational efficiencies

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Microbiology, or related scientific field
  • 10+ years of quality assurance experience, with 5+ years in leadership roles
  • Minimum 5 years in dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, or food manufacturing
  • Proven track record of building and scaling quality organizations
  • Experience managing real-time quality issues and leading cross-functional crisis response teams

Technical Expertise:

  • Knowledge of FDA regulations (21 CFR Part 111 - cGMP for dietary supplements)
  • Experience with NSF, USP, and third-party certification programs (NSF for Sport, Informed Sport, etc.)
  • Expertise in analytical testing methods for supplements (HPLC, GC-MS, ICP-MS, microbiological testing)
  • Supply chain quality management experience with suppliers
  • Strong data management skills with the ability to organize, store, and analyse quality data effectively

Leadership & Business Skills:

  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and retain high-performing teams
  • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership and external auditors
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Data-driven decision-making and problem-solving abilities

Value-Add Qualifications

  • Master's degree in relevant scientific discipline or MBA with technical background
  • Professional certifications: ASQ (American Society for Quality), SQF, BRC, or similar
  • Sports nutrition or performance supplement industry expertise
  • Experience with ERP systems integration and quality data management
  • Supplier diversity and sustainability program development experience
  • Experience leveraging AI tools and technologies in day-to-day business management and quality operations
