Position Summary:

Momentous is seeking a Sales Manager to identify, open, and grow a portfolio of specialty retail accounts — community-focused sporting goods stores, outdoor retailers, health-focused retailers, and independent shops. This role is a net-new business development position: we are looking for a hunter who will go out, build relationships, and win new accounts. This is not a people-management role; it is an individual contributor position with real room for growth based on performance.

This role excludes mass retail, national chains, international retail, and eTail (e.g., Scheels, The Vitamin Shoppe, iHerb, Thrive Market, Healf, Fullscript). Those channels are managed separately. The focus here is the specialty “in-between” accounts — community-driven, relationship-first, high product-knowledge environments such as Sports Basement, large sporting goods stores, outdoor specialty retail chains, and similar.

Reporting to the Director of Business Development & Strategic Partnerships, this role will serve as the primary commercial lead for the specialty retail channel, translating Momentous’ brand strategy into meaningful retail execution and community-driven growth.

Role and Responsibilities:

New Account Development

  • Proactively prospect, pitch, and open net-new specialty retail accounts — this is the primary mandate of the role.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of target accounts across community-focused sporting goods, outdoor specialty, and independent health retail.
  • Develop trusted relationships with store owners, buyers, and floor staff — becoming the go-to Momentous contact in your territory.
  • Identify white space opportunities and expand Momentous’ specialty retail footprint through disciplined field execution.

Specialty Channel Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute a channel sales strategy aligned with Momentous’ broader commercial and brand goals.
  • Translate brand priorities into account-level plans that drive both sell-in and sell-through.
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure account needs, product assortment, and activation opportunities are supported effectively.
  • Operate within the defined scope of the specialty retail channel — accounts should be community-focused, relationship-driven, and staffed by specialists or enthusiasts with deep product knowledge.

Community Engagement & Partnerships

  • Drive awareness and trial through community-based relationships that align with Momentous’ mission and credibility in performance.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to support grassroots activations, sampling, and local brand moments at the account level.
  • Represent Momentous authentically in the specialty retail community.

Education-Led Selling & Activation

  • Drive sell-through by leading education-first initiatives, including:
  • Product training and demos.
  • In-store staff education.
  • Sampling initiatives.
  • Community events and activations.

Event & Tradeshow Participation

  • Represent Momentous at specialty industry events, tradeshows, and community gatherings to build relationships, promote products, and expand brand visibility. This may require occasional travel based on event schedules.

Commercial Management & Reporting

  • Manage commercial negotiations within defined guardrails (pricing, margins, MOQs, discount structures).
  • Track performance against targets and provide clear reporting on:
  • New account wins and pipeline progress.
  • Account growth and performance trends.
  • Activation effectiveness and ROI.
  • Maintain accurate forecasting and account documentation in CRM to support broader sales planning.

Qualifications:

Experience & Background

  • 4–8+ years of experience in specialty sales, field sales, or business development — preferably in specialty retail, community-focused sporting goods, outdoor, or premium consumer brands.
  • Demonstrated track record of opening net-new accounts and growing territory from the ground up — not just managing existing relationships.
  • Strong familiarity with the specialty retail landscape: independent stores, community sporting goods retailers, outdoor specialty shops, and health-focused independents.
  • Experience operating as an individual contributor in a field-based, high-autonomy sales environment.

Skills & Competencies

  • Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills with a strong in-person presence.
  • Strong hunter mentality — energized by prospecting, pitching, and closing new accounts.
  • Ability to translate brand strategy into local market execution and account-level plans.
  • Highly organized and self-directed; able to manage a broad territory and multiple account priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong reporting and analytical skills; comfortable tracking pipeline activity and performance metrics in CRM.

Attributes

  • Genuine passion for specialty retail, the outdoors, sports, or the performance lifestyle — you understand and live the culture of the accounts you’ll be calling on.
  • High ownership mindset and strong follow-through — comfortable driving results independently in the field.
  • Collaborative, team-first approach with strong cross-functional instincts.
  • Motivated by building something from scratch and establishing Momentous as the premium supplement brand in specialty retail.

Benefits:

  • Competitive cash compensation plus employee stock options.
  • 401k Match.
  • Health/Vision/Dental.
  • Unlimited PTO.
  • Generous set of observed holidays (18 days of office closure in 2026).
  • $1,000 annual perks program to support a high-performance lifestyle.
  • Access to Momentous products and merchandise.
  • Our fast-paced, high-growth environment creates a strong opportunity for professional development.

This is a hybrid position out of our Park City, UT office.

Form CC-305

Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
