The Job: IT Operations Manager, Infrastructure
The IT Operations Manager is a hands-on technical leader responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of enterprise IT systems. This role manages infrastructure lifecycle activities such as patching, health, access, and capacity management across on-premises and AWS environments, while contributing to modernization and infrastructure build initiatives.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage day-to-day health and operational readiness of servers, storage, cloud compute, and virtualized environments
  • Implement operational best practices across Windows Server infrastructure, including patching, updates, and performance monitoring
  • Oversee vendor relationships for maintenance, support, and platform updates
  • Partner with IT leadership to develop and test Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans
  • Administer and support VDI/virtual desktop platforms, ensuring access integrity and system availability
  • Manage storage environments, including configuration, capacity planning, and lifecycle oversight
  • Operate and maintain AWS services (EC2, RDS, IAM, S3) with focus on availability and performance
  • Act as a technical escalation point for infrastructure service requests, collaborating across teams to meet needs
  • Track and report key operational metrics such as uptime, utilization, and system availability
  • Own and maintain the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) for infrastructure assets
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, technical documentation, and infrastructure runbooks
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to ensure infrastructure health and availability
  • Execute the patch management lifecycle including planning, compliance, and remediation
  • Support infrastructure deployment and enhancement projects with hands-on technical input
  • Collaborate with Service Delivery to ensure smooth transition and operational support of production infrastructure

What You’ll Bring to the Table

  • Strong expertise in infrastructure operations, uptime management, and preventive maintenance
  • Hands-on experience managing enterprise-grade production systems across hybrid environments
  • Proficiency with AWS services, scripting (PowerShell), and configuration automation tools
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, VMware, storage systems, and VDI platforms
  • Skilled in SOP development, CMDB upkeep, and infrastructure documentation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to coordinate across teams and vendors
  • Organizational skills to balance operational responsibilities with project-based work
  • Comfort working in regulated, fast-paced environments where performance and stability are business-critical

Education + Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required
  • AWS, ITIL, PMP, MCSE certifications are a plus
  • 8+ years of IT infrastructure operations experience with focus on systems availability, patching, and lifecycle management
  • 6+ years managing hybrid environments (on-prem and AWS), including Windows Server, VMware, storage, and VDI
  • Experience executing operational practices such as backup strategy, capacity management, SCCM, and access provisioning
  • Proven track record maintaining production infrastructure platforms to high uptime standards
  • Familiarity with CMDB management, SOP development, and infrastructure documentation
