JOB SUMMARY 

Key Responsibilities: 

Product Strategy & Ownership 

  • Define and own the product roadmap for 3D-printed spacecraft components  
  • Translate customer needs into clear product requirements and specifications  
  • Serve as product owner, aligning engineering, manufacturing, and business teams  
  • Identify and prioritize adjacent product opportunities beyond the initial propellant tank  

Technical & Performance Definition 

  • Establish key performance metrics (KPPs/KPIs) including mass efficiency, pressure capability, reliability, manufacturability, and cost  
  • Define performance, cost, and schedule targets aligned with market needs and business goals  
  • Partner with engineering to ensure designs meet mission and business requirements  

Business Model & Economics 

  • Develop and maintain the product business case, including:  
  • Unit economics and cost models  
  • Pricing strategy  
  • Volume assumptions and scaling scenarios  
  • Evaluate make vs. buy, vertical integration, and supply chain strategy  

Go-to-Market & Customer Engagement 

  • Develop and execute the go-to-market strategy  
  • Work closely with sales to:  
  • Identify target customers (satellite OEMs, propulsion providers, primes)  
  • Support capture efforts and proposals  
  • Engage directly with customers to refine requirements and validate product-market fit  

Differentiation & Market Positioning 

  • Define the competitive positioning of the product  
  • Identify and articulate differentiators (e.g., performance, cost, lead time, integration, reliability)  
  • Monitor competitors and industry trends in additive manufacturing and spacecraft hardware  

Program Execution Support 

  • Align cross-functional teams around milestones, deliverables, and priorities  
  • Track progress against cost, schedule, and technical goals  
  • Support risk identification and mitigation strategies 

Required Skills and Experience 

  • Demonstrated ability to work across engineering and business functions  
  • Strong analytical skills, including cost modeling and trade studies  
  • Experience translating technical systems into customer-facing value propositions 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel 
  • Ability to work independently.  
  • Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams 
  • Excellent technical communications skills. 
  • Good written and verbal communication skills. 

Desired Skills and Experience: 

  • Experience with additive manufacturing (metal AM strongly preferred)  
  • Background in spacecraft or launch vehicle development  
  • Familiarity with qualification and certification of aerospace hardware  
  • Experience in a startup or fast-paced development environment

Education & Work Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field  
  • MBA or equivalent business experience (a plus, not required) 
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace, ideally with exposure to:  
  • Spacecraft propulsion systems  

Why This Role Matters 

This role will define not just a single product, but the foundation of a scalable product line in 3D-printed spacecraft hardware. You will directly shape how advanced manufacturing translates into real, adopted space systems. 

Compensation: 

Annual Base Salary Range: $140,000 to $175,000/per year 
Base pay is one part of our total compensation package (base+bonus+equity) and is determined within a range. Your actual base salary will be determined on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.  Our benefit plans include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k retirement plan, short and long term disability and life insurance. We also offer flexible PTO, along with 11 paid holidays, sick time and paid parental leave. 

This is a full-time position in San Jose, California, Hybrid, or Remote. This position requires access to export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology, software, and services. U.S. citizenship, U.S. legal permanent resident status, or protected person status under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3) is required.
