Contracts & Legal Operations Specialist

Charlotte, NC

WHO WE ARE

Monetary is the financial cloud-based treasury and accounting platform built specifically for government and nonprofit finance professionals. More than 2,000 organizations - including local governments, public universities, and health systems - use Monetary to manage debt, cash, investments, leases, and subscriptions in one platform.

We've built the most sophisticated treasury platform in public finance — sitting at the intersection of treasury management and a $4 trillion fixed income market that's been waiting for modern infrastructure.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a proactive, highly organized Contracts & Legal Operations Administrator to join our growing legal department. As the legal team’s second full-time hire, you will report directly to Corporate Counsel and take meaningful ownership of the systems and processes that support the legal function. This is not solely an administrative role. You will manage day-to-day contract operations while identifying gaps, designing better workflows, and leading the implementation of scalable legal processes. You will work directly with teams across the company—particularly Sales and Finance—to make contracting and legal support more organized, efficient, and transparent. The ideal candidate combines strong contract-administration experience with an operator’s mindset. You are comfortable taking an ambiguous or manual process, bringing the right stakeholders together, and turning it into a practical, well-documented workflow.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Contract Administration

  • Manage contracts throughout their lifecycle, including intake, review coordination, approvals, signature coordination with authorized signatories, filing, amendments, renewals, and termination.
  • Maintain the company’s contract repository, templates, playbooks, and related legal records.
  • Track key contract terms, including renewal dates, notice periods, payment obligations, and other business commitments.
  • Support the preparation and review of routine commercial agreements using approved templates and playbooks, under the supervision of the Corporate Counsel, flagging missing information, nonstandard terms, and issues requiring escalation.
  • Prepare, complete, and submit procurement-related forms and documentation (e.g., vendor registrations, W-9s, security and compliance questionnaires, insurance certificates, and bid or RFP response forms) accurately and on time.

Process Ownership and Improvement

  • Own the company’s contract-management and legal-intake processes end to end: assess current workflows, close inefficiencies and control gaps, and document clear steps, roles, approval thresholds, and escalation paths.
  • Lead cross-functional process-improvement projects with Sales, Finance, Revenue Operations, Procurement, and other stakeholders, and drive adoption through communication, training, and feedback—not just documentation.
  • Build and maintain self-service resources, such as templates, guides, and playbooks, for recurring requests.
  • Track and report on operational metrics such as contract volume, turnaround time, renewal activity, and process bottlenecks, and identify opportunities to automate repetitive work, including through responsible use of AI tools.

Systems and Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Administer and optimize Ironclad, our contract lifecycle management platform, including workflows, templates, metadata, permissions, reporting, and integrations, and keep contract data consistent across Ironclad, Salesforce, and other business systems.
  • Serve as Legal’s primary operational point of contact for other departments, managing the legal intake queue, prioritizing requests, and keeping stakeholders informed on status.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel, vendors, and other third parties as needed.
  • Maintain corporate and legal records, including entity documents, policies, licenses, and insurance documentation, and provide notarial services if commissioned as a notary.
  • Support the Corporate Counsel with team planning and other legal operations projects.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Relevant experience in contract administration, legal operations, a corporate legal department, a law firm, or a comparable business environment, including managing commercial contracts across multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience owning and improving operational processes—driving projects from problem identification through implementation and adoption, not simply following established procedures.
  • Strong organizational, project-management, and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Clear and confident written and verbal communication, with a collaborative, service-oriented approach and the confidence to hold stakeholders accountable to agreed processes.
  • Sound judgment, including the ability to recognize when legal or business issues should be escalated, and comfort working with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Working fluency with AI tools (e.g., general-purpose assistants and AI features within CLM platforms), along with sound instincts about confidentiality, data security, and privilege when using them on legal work.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience administering or implementing a contract lifecycle management platform; Ironclad experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a growing software company (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS).
  • Experience using Salesforce and working with Sales or Revenue Operations teams.
  • Experience drafting or reviewing routine commercial agreements, including NDAs, order forms, statements of work, amendments, customer agreements, and vendor agreements.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOK LIKE

WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR

  • Contract intake, approval, signature, and storage processes have clear owners, documented steps, and appropriate controls—and are adopted across the business, not merely documented.
  • Ironclad and Salesforce contain accurate, consistent contract information, and renewals, notice periods, and other key obligations are tracked proactively.
  • Stakeholders know how to engage Legal and can easily check the status of their requests, and turnaround times and recurring bottlenecks are measured and improving.
  • The Corporate Counsel can rely on this person to identify operational needs, propose solutions, and drive implementation with limited oversight.
