Monomoy Advisors is looking for an entrepreneurial, highly motivated, experienced, detail oriented and consultative professional to join our growing team as an Assistant Controller.  As a key member of the team, this individual will provide Assistant Controller services to Monomoy Advisors’ growing client base and assist with building out the Interim Finance Team’s processes, standards, tools and templates for the growing practice.

In this highly visible role, the candidate will serve as a key member of our clients’ finance and accounting teams with hands-on ownership of and assistance with accounting operations, financial reporting, planning, budgeting, treasury, tax, statutory reporting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets and the external audit process. This role will be responsible for helping to build out the financial infrastructure needs of client organizations and the ideal candidate must have demonstrated success in building scalable finance business processes across the organization. This individual will also need to partner with all functions within the Client’s company in planning for the Company’s success.

In This Opportunity, Your Main Responsibilities Will Include

  • Oversee and manage general accounting functions
  • Help with quarterly and year-end financial audit activities and the annual corporate financial controls audit
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Lead the monthly accounting close process
  • Assist to identify technical accounting areas for assessment, and review accounting conclusions documented with technical memos for management and auditors.
  • Ensures accounting policies and practices comply with US GAAP and company controls.
  • Performs period end reviews to ensure accurate, complete and timely financial records.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, and support accounting staff with AP, G/L, and payroll as necessary.
  • Assist in development and implementation of policies and procedures for accounting activities and functions
  • Assist with FP&A budgeting and analyses, including compiling monthly budget-to-actual information to understand key business drivers and support managerial decision making.
  • Prepare presentations and analysis for the leadership team and external collaboration partners

Experience, Education, and Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

Must thrive in a fast-paced, self-starting. growing, and innovative environment where agility, resourcefulness, and resiliency skills are key. Excellent interpersonal with an ability to develop important relationships with client stakeholders.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5-10 years of accounting experience, preferably a mix of public and private
  • CPA preferred
  • Excellent organization, problem solving and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail and track record of balancing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Solid understanding of P&L, Cash Flow and Balance Sheet statements and their drivers
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and presentation skills
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Netsuite, Dynamics) and Finance Tools (Carta, Bill.com, Prendio, Expensify, ADP)
  • Strong working knowledge of SEC and US GAAP
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word & PowerPoint
  • FP&A or budgeting experience is a PLUS
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks and projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

Work Environment: Hybrid work environment providing flexibility while also teaming internally.  Travel to client locations required based on client demands.  Minimal travel by car and air throughout the U.S. may be required.
